ok, so I am new to here and to knife making in general.

first question... what makes a knife maker? makes every part, forges the blade and makes the handle?

Well here are my first two, with the first being a gift to my dad. I added a handle and pins to a bought blade blank and made the sheath from scratch:

My second knife is this one:

let me know what you think..

BTW, this is my first post.

thanks,
Zook

Welcome to the forum and shop talk. the knives look pretty good.
there are great knife makers who have never forged a blade and some great makers have most of their parts water jet cut or the like. In my opinion a knife maker is some one who makes knives.:D what I mean is a knife maker needs to do at least the grinding and handles need to be made (preferably with the makers design ) parts can be made, blanks can be water jet ,sheaths can be made and blades can be heat treated.

A knife maker makes knives. He does the major part of the work. As BronnyB said, he can contract bout the profile cutting, sheath, etc......but should be the one who grinds the bevels and finishes the blade. He assembles the handle to the blade and finishes the knife. A bladesmith is one who forges the blade first.

Thanks for the feedback. I guess for now, I will be a knife finisher. I hope to get a decent belt grinder soon and will really start to make knives. Of course then I will need a forge... I love new hobbies..... I get to improve my tool collection.
