Purchased a khukri some time ago that has much spirit and would like to find out more about it. Not sure how to navigate this site properly but would like to post pictures so that those with experience may be able to share their insights.
Please advise me of the best way to do this? The khukri I have was given to a British Captain on his retirement by his "Batman" around the first world and is 495 millimeters long with ivory handles on it and the chakmak and karda. It is simply a wonderful testimate to the Kami and unlike anything I have seen before accept in a picture of one in the Nepalese museum. The frog has a manually tapped out badge of great detail evidentally the regiments insignia, can anyone help?
Regards Brian

the simplest way to post images for a 'registered user' is to host them on one of the free sites (imageshack, photobucket, etc.), or if you have your own, on there, then use the image tool here (the little yellow square with the mountains on it, to the right of the globe with the infinity sign) to input the url location of the image. or spring for a gold membership & you can upload images directly i believe.

here is a 'hosted' image:

kukhri.jpg

here is the code that produces it:

Code:

non-himalayan imports subjects like this should be posted in the 'cantina' section where i am sure a moderator will move this...

What is OK for this main forum, and what is transferred to the cantina, is beyond this reader. But welcome, grizzlebear, to HI forum.
This is a historical antique. HI is not in competition with historical artifacts. It is related to khukuris. People come to the forum to learn about khukuris. Placed in the Cantina, it will be erased later. Therefore all the knowledge lost. Powel had his calender of historical khuks on these pages. HI forum has long been about the study and understanding khukuris. There are rules about comparing to modern production, these belong in knife review section.

As you can see, the topic is over my small ape brain.

Welcome aboard! Check out Yangdu's (the kind, gracious proprieter of HI) deals of the day (DOTD) and see if there's something you like. Step on into the Cantina and shoot the breeze.

"See if there's anything you like." Yeah right. See if there's anything you DON'T like. LOL. :D ;) Welcome aboard.
