New Guy

The new knife changes look great. Just a few opinions (personal preferences) I would loose the points on the Pommel/Butt end, round them off like you had in your first drawings. Are you going to use two different materials for the handle? this takes a bit of extra work and fitting, I try to K.I.S.S. If you are up to the task I say go for it!

*Subscribed to Thread* looking forward to seeing the progress!

Ha! Yep, Ryan. Colors will probably change a bit though. I cut out my patterns on some foam board and sure enough, the points had to go, so they will be rounded off. Right now it looks like I am going to do black G-10 scales and olive micarta bolsters, or black and olive micarta mix, one like the pics above, and one in the reverse. I am doing a pair of these, one will be for me, and one for my son. I almost have my filing jig built, so I can hopefully keep my bevels nice and flat. I will update the pics today, and probably start a WIP thread :)

Ok, these should be a bit more accurate. I still couldn't quite get the top point on the butt rounded off since I suck at drawing Bezier curves, but it will be on the finished product.

I like this design the best. I'm trying to remember what the handle reminds me of. One of the Benchmade folders, but I can't remember which. I would also keep the black as the main color. That's just my $1.50 worth of advice.

That looks a lot better, I like the main color Black as well... I am going to give some advice I get from Mr. Bailey. Move the pins in from the edges, the larger pins are good, the 4 small pins may cause some splitting to happen. Maybe see what 3 pins instead of 4 looks like, 2 by the black and one in the middle in the bolster area! Just a suggestion, I would love to see a WIP.

Thanks guys! I will have an updated drawing in a few. The 3 pins idea is working I think.

As to the colors, they are both getting made. One for my son, and one for me. The handle colors are going to be "matching, but different".

This is more along the lines of what I meant by 3 pins... you could even go with only 2 in the bolster portion.

Your previous post will work as well!

after looking at that, Two small pins would work better I think. Lose the bottom one!
