• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

New Haft Finish???

That's how I took it, vec... sounds like the ABS pipe w/caps is a 'container' to put the stick inside, and the 'container' is then filled with the oil...

Clever idea, '5'!!!

Bushman5 and vector001,

Pictures!!! Please???

- of the Acrylic Matte Finish, ya mean, brother glock?

maybe this'll do - all these multicams are painted the same, but the ones on the ends have an additional Matte Acrylic top coat - even the camera shows the color gradations a lot more - i suspect IR spectrum might be mitigated as well.......

the matte acrylic will make your colors pop, but without shine.

almost perfect results, and idiot proof to boot.

HTH.

OK, I sanded the 'walking staff', and that exposed just a tad of the really light-colored wood grain... so it is a tri-colored wood now (white, brown and charcoal)...

Then I added the semi-gloss poly, the whole 11 ounce can, just like with the satin I used first...

I will post a picture ASAP, it looks INTERESTING!!!

Just took the picture... gotta put it in 'Photobucket' first...
Look again here within the hour!!!

OK, 3 pictures...
The first 2 have been shown already, but will be shown here for ease of viewing...
BTW, I learned a lot from doing this!!! I can't wait to try it on a hawk haft next!!!

Picture #1 (taken in indirect sunlight) shows a section of the 'Walking Staff' before & after the 'Charcoal Wash' staining...

Picture #2 (taken is direct sunlight) shows a section of the 'Walking Staff' after the 'Charcoal Wash' staining, and after applying 4 coats of satin poly, unsanded...

Picture #3 (taken in direct sunlight) shows a section of the 'Walking Staff' before the 'Charcoal Wash' staining, and a section after the 'Charcoal Wash' staining, applying 4 coats of satin poly, sanding and applying another 4 coats of semi-gloss poly... you can see the tri-coloring of the wood quite well in this picture...

This 'walking staff' is 1" diameter, and it is 5 feet long.

It is tri-colored, and should be 100% water-proof...

Total cost involved: less than $15.00
