While this may not qualify as a CCW piece which I was looking for it most certainly qualifies as awesome considering the price I'm paying for it. I just picked up a S&W 686 with a 4" barrel, unused, unfired for $200. I'm pretty stoked because several years ago due to an unforeseen financial crisis I had to sell my 6" barrel 686 with every intention of purchasing the 4" later on. Well today was the day and I couldn't be happier. :D :D :D :D :D :D

You stole it! I have one with magna porting. I wish it had a standard barrel but wouldn't trade it for anything.

Congrats,
SDS

Freakin steal!! :eek:You must be livin right for a deal like that to come along, congrats.

Nothing wrong with a 4 inch revolver for CCW, I carry a 5" 625 at times in a crossdraw...works fine. Sounds like you got a great deal!

You stole it!

Maybe! I had a canoe for sale w/ a travel trailer for $800 and a guy stopped by who lives around the corner and offered me the 686 and $600 for the canoe. Luckily I had a permit in the house that I just got last week. We did the paperwork, he got a canoe and I got $600 and a sweet wheelie.

What's even better is that he is selling off most of his collection of weapons. I stand to gain a few more from him when cash permits including a sweet, sweet, sweet Colt Mustang .380. I have to do some research on this one though as I'm a lefty. I need to see if an ambi safety is available for it.

Oh, and here's the pic....

The L-Frame S&Ws along with the K-Frames are also one of the easiest revolvers to put a great trigger in without sacrificing reliability. I shot one for many years in NRA Action Pistol and have always had a soft spot for them...I still shoot my L-Frame Action Piston for fun even tho I don't compete with it anymore...switched to a 1911 platform the last few years I shot competitively.

That is a hellufadeal. I bought a used 4" 66 for $200 a couple of years ago. Your's is better and it has real steel parts. Also, it doesn't have that silly action lock.

It should be useful for getting cats out of trees. :D

I'd pay $200 for a new 686 every day of the week if I could. A great gun at a great price. Congratulations!

Day-um!

I've got a 4 inch 686, and its a sweet gun. I paid a lot more than $200 for it, though. That's one great deal.

Now it makes sense. I was wondering what else this guy had in his trunk and which back alley he sells out of :D Nice piece too and one helluva deal

When you are up the proverbial -- not litteral -- creek without a paddle, a 686 will be more useful than an canoe.

Even if he were up the literal creek around here, it's shallow enough to get out and wade! :D
