• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

This is a Calfee bamboo mountain bike with hemp fiber soaked in epoxy for the joints. I got into a discussion on another forum about a fiber reinforcement for epoxy knife handles and I remembered a walking cane I did years ago with the same technique on the handle and it came out looking just like this. I never thought to use it for a knife handle until now. I figure one could make a 1/4" pommel and guard from micarta and wrap this epoxy hemp (I used sisal or jute) around between them like a spool and sand the whole thing to shape. I'll get around to trying it someday but I just like to put ideas out there so have at it if you like.

Maybe some carbon fibers mixed in would make for a nice tiger stripe effect?

i checked out the picture and that would make for some neat looking micarta. you should try making some blocks for a slab handle knife.
