New Helle knife!

OK.. Enough with the pics!! :D The more I look at it the more I am re-thinking this!! Its a looker and like the way it looks/fits in sheath/hand!!! John

It feels a LOT better than the Candiru. Took some painkillers and went out to try it on some birch. It flew through the first branch and half way through the next by accident.. It's a thin slicer, but it also feels solid.

But to be honest (and to maybe help you), I don't know if it's worth the 180 or something dollars that someone said it costs in USA, unless you are willing to pay for the look, which I love, and the leather sheath. You can probably find an equal or better cutter for half the price, but I like this one, and was willing to pay for it. I like the "woodsy" look, instead of the "tactical" woodknives I have :)

Some of the early Temagamis got dinged for F&F.

The body of reviews thus far are pretty rough on the little guy. :o

Fit and finish. Not something I used to think about, bit after reading here on BF i can try to find something..

the blade: good. I can't find anything to complain about (but that may be because I don't know what to look for :) ). It is sharp, cuts well and is nicely polished.

The handle: it's a little gap on each side, on the top where the blade starts

The handle slabs also seems to be a bit uneven

In the lanyard holes there was "something", looked like wax. I removed some of it, but it is maybe possible to see something on the images (iphone camera)

It was also some toolmarks on the lanyrd rings

I still think it's a nice knife, and consodering that I will be using it on pine, birch, norwegian spruce etc, it will become much much worse in a short time.. :)

Edit: In short, what I like about it: it is a small knife, with a surprisingly good grip, and the thin blade cuts through wood like a laser. But I may be a bit biased (norwegian) and forgiving, because I was really looking forward to getting this knife and that I want to like it (don't have to try very hard tho')..

Oh I love Nordic knives. I just took delivery on an RB&S ☆. (Rognald Brusletto & Sons for those not from Norway or afflicted with a passion for knives Nordic.)
Used, naturally, since it's from 1941 or earlier. Sadly, the sheath is long gone, and the replacement, while functional, lacks the tab to fit on the handle stud. The final bevel is convexed. Cuts just fine. No gaps anywhere after seventy-six+ years

But it didn't cost $189.00.

As I said, I don't know if it's worth 189 dollars. Other knives in that size/pricerange, like Bark Rivers, will probably have better fit/finish. I haven't tried the Bark River knives, but I think theu are thicker.

I didn't pay 189 dollar for the Mândra. It was expensive for the size, but it was the kind of knife I wanted/"needed" now, so I'm happy:)

About your Brusletto - send them an e-mail, maybe they can help you with a sheath for your knife: kundeservice@brusletto.no :)

Last post for a while: I whittled some dry birch wood. It outcutted the Esee 3 by a longshot. After that I tried to shve my face with it. It wasn't comfortable, but it shaved. I also splitted a free-hanging chest-hair (don't have long enough hair on my head:) ). It's just stupid sharp, and now I am concerned that I will never get it back to the same sharpness again after I use it for a while!
