Hows it going guys? I may have met a few of you already, at the Blade show in ATL in June. Me and my friend Jess came down with Kurt. Well I finally got registered on this here forum, so I wanted to say hi and all that jazz. Keep on rockin out.

Welcome to the Cantina/Psycho Ward Voodoo!!!! :D

Get yerself a BGRS aka 17"-18" Ganga Ram Special for your first khuk, know you're gonna be asking anyway.;)

Welcome Voodoo.

I say an 18" WWll for the first khuk. All around.

We do need new blood here, but Voodoo probably isn't exactly new blood, is it? Probably some involved ritual where you get blood from that mutant bear wandering out somewhere's on the Brazos....

....where was I? Oh YEAH, WELCOME to HI land!

:D

Welcome.

RE first khuk--

Here's a thread that contains links to other threads:

from the post that comes up
scroll down a bit for links to "best favorite ...." thread links

Personally I recommend either the first one
that reaches out for you from the screen,
or a 19"+/- Chitlangi for general all-around use.

Voodoo?

You won't like them.

A friend of Kurts? Now there is a tag I wouldn't offer on a first visit!

;)

Welcome to the Cantina!

.

Welcome aboard. I was going to recommend an 18" WWII but that's been done already. So, for your second, I recommend a 20" sirupati, and then for your third, a chiruwa Ang Khola. Don't forget about the kumar karda and the JKM, oh yeah and the Sarge is a must have. You will want a garud or hanuman for the carved handle, and a YCS for a nice fancy look. You will need an AK Bowie or Cherokee Rose for a knife, oh hell, get both, as well as a kerambit. Of course, you don't have any swords yet, so you'll need a tarwar and a katana and maybe a tibeten sword as well. I noticed you don't have any smaller khuks, so a bilton and a BDC and maybe a BAS is probably what you should go for. Now you have a pretty decent selection, so I'd try to get a couple big choppers like that 20" AK or the 22" Ganga Ram and . . . . . . .

You get my drift? :D

Good luck fighting the desire, no, the need, to buy a whole bunch of these wonderful hand forged blades from a wonderful wonderful company. Finally, I am not responsible for your financial woes or your wife getting mad at all the triangular boxes piling up at your house.

Oh, and Voodoo? Shann's been real careful not to overstate the case. We know it's confusing in the beginning so he kept it simple..... er..

I had a fistful of khuks in the first 8 days...

I'd suggest you start out with a Bilton. If you can understand the geometry of the shape, and how it might work for you, move up to a bigger khukuri. If not, you're only out a few bucks, and you've got a cool letter opener from Nepal :D

Damned bot!!!! :grumpy:

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Bri in Chi again.

Don't even sweat it, Voodoo. You'll probably end up with twenty of these damned things by the end of the year anyway so pick the first one that strikes your fancy. :)

If I had to do it all again, I would've started with a 15" BGRS villager. It seems to be the only one that I use now.

Ahem... Start slow and don't rush it. A lot like dating :grumpy:
You may find that you prefer gas chain saws

Voodoo,

This is true. Doesn't matter where you begin with khuks. You will soon have HIKV and be covered up with shiny blades.

Spent any time in the govi jar?

(Sorry, kind of an 'in' Voudoun joke.) Gotta run now, the Loas need to be fed if I can just find that damned chicken........

Hey Voodoo! Welcome to the Cantina. All your future questions have probably been answered here in one thread or another, but just jump in and ask if we can help with anything or provide any info.

By the way, I'm not sure if you have had a chance to read our bylaws as yet, but according to the Official Cantina Rules, you have to buy a copy of the newest knife under production for each active member as a rite of passage into our hallowed halls of khukdom. Right now that is the Salyan memorial knife, and I'm sure Yangdu has the pricing particulars for you. I would like mine in stag. Guys, be sure to let Voodoo know what handle material you would like! :D ;)

Thanks!

Norm
