I recently stumbled on a Schrade Knife ... A friend of mine said it is carbon steel blade with Sterling Silver ... It is like a switch blade on both blades ... The longer blade , and the shorter one as well ..

On the Base of the longer blade it says

"Schrade
Cut CO.
Walden N.Y."

On the base of the smaller blade it says,

"U.S. PATS.
DEC. 21, 09
SEPT. 13, 10
JUNE. 6, 16"

Here is the picture of the Knife

If anyone can please help me with any info on this knife , I would greatly appreciate it , thanks ...

Look at the SCC #740SSD at the top of page 12 (the 7th page of the .pdf file) in the Schrade 1940 catalog here:

Hard to tell from your blurry photo and no size given, but this is close. Schrade used those same patent marks for years after the patents expired (as most manufacturers did and still do). Usual length of time for patent protection was seventeen years.

Thanks alot Michael .. I am trying to talk my buddy into selling the knife to me... Do you think, or anyone else think it is worth it ??

If anyone were wanting to buy this knife , what would you pay for it??

Cause I got a offer from him , but I want a round about price from people that know before I shell the money out..

Thanks

Barrett~

If the the push buttons work, and the blades are full, it should cost a pretty penny. Not my area of expertise though, and I'm not sure how far north of of $150.00 it might go for if two people were bidding on it. I believe celluloid and especially natural handle materials are more desirable for some collectors. The Push Buttton Knives are very collectible.

Thawk not trying to be a smarta..:foot: but the scales on that knife I am fairly sure are SILVER.:D

Well I've never been too smart, so I could easily be wrong. And prejudiced too. I like the traditional handles, and truthfully, the silver one could be higher in value to collectors. I've only seen the other ones.

thank you Codger for the cataloge. i have saved it cause on page 11 i might have one of those big knives.
