Hey all. I'm new to this forum. I think it is great!

What do you think of the knives that I own. I'm not all that knowledgable about knives (yet). I just know a nice tool when I see it.

I carry a Spyderco Endura.

and also own a Spec Plus Air Force Survival knife.

I was thinking of buying a Benchmade 710. Is that a good knife? What is the quality like? I like the Axis lock on it.

Thanks......The place I used to work for started selling Spyderco's right before I left. You can buy them online. No plug intended, but they gave me a great deal on my Endura.

Greetings, Welcomes, Howdies, Salutations, etc.!

Welcome to our nightmare RRLsi. It's a little bit of a dysfunctional family, but we all try to help each other out from time to time. If you stick around, I'm sure you will soon have a lot more than just two knives and may start to accumulate many new friends. Enjoy the forums. Oh, watch out for the idiots

Welcome aboard, RRLSi, and strap yourself in for a bumpy ride! While I'm not a big fan of Spyderco's, I admire your choice of hobbies! Your knife appears to be fully serrated, a selection I've only found useful for cutting wet rope--and that may be it's primary use. I'm 50 years of age, and I learn things here every day. Hope you have a ready supply of bandages and plasma, because most of the hobbyists here are serious!--OKG

The smaller serrations are also useful in stripping wire and cable. It doesn't dig into the copper at all. It just shaves the insulation right off.

Hahaha.......that's great.

But I think my other hobby might consume more. I'm saving up for an H&K USP Compact 9mm.

I've found that as well. For me serrations work better than wire strippers for stripping wire.

While I'm not a big Spyderco fan, you won't hear a bad word about them, and many forumites here are Spyderfanatics.

The 710 is an excellent knife, I highly recommend it.

And welcome! I think you'll like it here.

Get ready to go broke...

Check out the balisong forum when you have time..and if you are goiong to get into the balisong thing, make sure you have PLENTY of bandages...

I also highly recommend getting a Microtech or two...doens't nessecarily have to be an auto..the hot thing now seems to be the MA LCC...I haven't held one yet, so for the time being i am a SOCOM man...

Welcome to the Forums.

Wow! Has someone finally found an actual use for serrations? I'm going to have to try this out. Welcome, Randy. If you only knew what it meant to actually find a use I might consider serrations better for than a properly-sharpened plain edge... I'm definitely going to have to try that next time I'm doing some wiring.

Syderco's and Buck knives, everyone in this place either has them, has had them, or will have them. They are a right of passage to certifiable knife nuttiness. You are in the right place. Welcome to the Forums.

Off to trade some guns for knives.

You'll like bladeforums. There's nothing quite as fun as finding lots of friendly, knowledgable people who share your interest in this strange hobby of sharp objects

Leave now, before it's too late!!!

You may be new to the forum but not a total "newbie" to knives. Endura and Spec Plus fixed: excellent "starter" knives! (Mine were a SAK and Spec Plus Parachutist.)

Oh, did I say "starter"? No, I wasn't suggesting you buy any more ...!

Hopelessly addicted,
Glen
