New here with $150 to spend

The un-serrated tanto blur is a new model, not a blem, not a misprint, it is not available yet, but will be soon from the same distributor that had an exclusive on the tiger striped tanto blur...

Yeah, I understand that, but the model# of this not yet unavailable knife SHOULD by Kershaw numbering standards be 1670TBLK, and I was just pointing out that a non-tanto "blem" already exists with that model#... maybe the not yet unavailable tanto will be given a different model# for this reason (and it SHOULD), but I felt it was worth pointing this out so nobody ends up with something they didn't want.

He said the new tanto blur will be an uncoated blade... so shouldn't then model number just be 1670T or something?

Although I'm a bit late to the party, and it isn't made in the US, you can get Cold Steel's Code 4 Tanto for about $50.

Take a look at the ZT0560 I really like mine and love the ELMAX steel and it gets really sharp and stays sharp for a good while.I picked mine up off of ebay 170.00 new.

Got the Hogue EX-01 3.5 on the way, with the green aluminum scales, pumped! Also snagged a ZT 0566 while I was at it, so I figure I will be content for at least a little while..

The perfect knife (right now anyway) would have a 3.5" tanto blade, aluminum scales, made in USA, decent quality steel, and a slimmish profile.

you're basically describing the Code 4 in your OP. I'd advise you to get over the US produced only mindset. I have an extensive collection of folders and Taiwan is easily on par with US production. Especially in Cold Steel knives. As a matter of fact Cold Steel is the ONLY brand to still have a flawless track record in my collection. Each and every one of their blades came to me with 10/10 fit and finish. Not even Spyderco and ZT hold that record with me.

I have looked at the code 4, and its a pretty nice knife. I have plenty of Taiwanese made knives, including a large voyager and several other cold steel fixed blades, ka-bar folders, etc. They are good work knives, and the voyager is definitely a tough folder. Maybe that's why I am not too excited about the code 4, bc to me it kind of looks like the voyagers cool cousin or something haha. But I was looking for US made as one of my criteria, not really something I feel I need to get over. Aside from wanting to support a U.S. company, its a way for me to narrow my knife search, personal preference. And Im pretty happy with the Hogue that just came in, actually really happy with it. Thank you for the suggestion though, it does pretty much fit my OP to the tee, except the made in Taiwan thing.

Glad you like the hogue, I just sold mine on the forum. The BM 909 I order just arrived and its pretty awesome. I wasnt sure I was gonna keep it but I love it.

Sweet 909! Even though I ended up getting the Hogue, which is a badass blade, I still have an itch for a benchmade. Local shop told me they ordered the 909 so I may go "looking" pretty soon. Still thinking about picking up the 583 at some point, so Im pretty sure it will come down to those two next (good grief where does it end?). I took a few good pics of the Hogue, if I could figure out how to post them on here

Since it was discussed in this thread... I have just seen the unserrated tanto Blur, stonewash, with model# 1670BLKBDZ (Kershaw lost me with lettering on this one!) listed as available on one of the major knife websites. They don't list it as an exclusive, but I don't see it anywhere else right now...
