New here!

Welcome to BF !!! Absolutely, this is a great place to learn and discuss all things sharp and pointy.
I’d tell you to buy a membership, so you can avoid the ads and have access to the entire form. A gold membership will allow you to communicate privately to someone without having to post personal information that the whole world can see.
Have fun and enjoy the ride down the rabbit hole.

Welcome.
Stick to the discussion areas, for your financial well being. If you venture onto the Exchange, beware... the contents thereof will haunt you, convincing you that, YES, you do need them. It's okay to give in, as long as you keep your wits about you. Avoid buying more than you can afford... or more than your significant other can tolerate.

Howdy folks! I have been slowly pulled into an interest in knives over that last couple of years, and this place always comes up in my research. It seems that there are lots of great members and lots of good information on this site. I look forward to being a small part of the fun!

Ethan.

Before you start thinking "how come I just paid $900 for this knife???" about these types of questions, always remember: Alcohol, opioid, gambling, compulsive shopping (for women) and tobacco addiction is at least 100x more expensive and you are left with nothing other than damaged health and ruined life. Knife addiction = toys + toys + more cool toys + happiness + love + heaven + eternal loyalty (with m390, m4, cpm 20cv, 3v, s110v blades, you'll learn...)! You can trade them and sell them when you get bored with old toys :)

P.S. CapitalOne offers great credit cards and cash back rewards ;-) "We got your knife addiction covered"

Just remember, you don't need too many knives. All you need is one, and then a spare. You will also need a spare in case the spare breaks or gets lost. Then, if you are able another spare in case the spare of the spare is out of service. Then you might need one for Sundays or special occasions, then a spare in case that one gets lost, stolen, or broken. You may want a multitool and flashlight for a more well rounded EDC. You better also get a couple fixed blades and a machete or two. Quality kitchen knives are also a must. Do you live in the woods? If so you need at least three types of axes and one splitting maul. Never neglect switchblades either if they are legal where you live, you may need to fight off a group of rowdy teenage gangsters. Zombie apocalypse a concern? Don't forget a Katana. We haven't seen dragons in millenia but that doesn't mean they aren't lurking, waiting to come out and burn our cities and pillage our lands, so a 2 handed Great Sword would be good insurance against that.

So yeah, you don't need too many. Just the basics. Spend the extra money on really high quality sharpening gear, thankfully that stuff is nice and cheap... .. right?

There's a lot of good information on these boards, and another good natured friend is always welcome.

One of our members has the tag line.....

"The best knife is the next knife." (Think I got that right.)

And truer words were never spoken!
Welcome to the forum from a fellow fairly new member.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I'm trying to stay on the budget side of things for the time being, but that just makes justifying each purchase easier!
I'm still stuck on budget knives after all this time. What is not to love about a good value? Sure I'll buy some better stuff but no need to spend an arm and a leg for other people's approval.
