New HF bandsaw, parts left over?

I just put together my new 4x6 bandsaw. Have to say instructions
were not that geat. After getting done I still have quite a few
extra bolts and nuts and washers. I haven't put the vertical table
on yet but did I miss something or are they just generous with the
small parts. Also any pre-setup tips before running would be very
much appreciated.

My next purchase is to be a drill press, I was thinking of the 1 1/2 HP
12 speed HF floor model. Any info on this or similar drill presses
would be great. (Like what range of speeds is good for different
thicknesses of steel and things like that. )

Thanks, Wyatt

I got the table model of that drill press and replaced the chuck with a keyless one. It's been a good little drill so far. I don't remember if I had extra parts left over after assembly of my bandsaw. One thing I'll recommend is don't waste your money on the HF blades. Get good bi-metal blades for it.
Oh one more thing...
That D handle near the blade tension knob WILL remove skin from your knuckles. I cut it off and smoothed it out with an angle grinder and now it's 200% easier to adjust the blade tension. I don't miss the handle at all.

My experience with a HF drill press I purchased recently.
I think a GOOD keyless is a great idea.

Got a Harbor Freight DP yesterday. 1/2 Hp 250-3350 RPM's JT-2
I took it to MTT class and checked the run-out.
My dial indicator has .0005 index.
The arbor by itself had a runout of about .0020
The needle did not reach 0.0020, it's probably about 0.0018
I chucked up a precision dowl and the chuck's run-out
was alittle under 0.0035.
I think for an 89.99 Drill press that's not too bad. This chuck only goes down to 3/16's.

I picked up a HF 4x6 a couple months ago and also had a bunch of left over nuts, bolts and washers. The manual that comes with it is terrible. You can find the manuals for the Grizzly and Jet versions online. They are much better. Get a bi-metal blade and ditch the table that comes with it. I replaced mine with a piece of 1/4 inch 8"x8" steel.

Thanks for the replys. I just thouhgt with all the leftover hardware I might
have missed something.

Thanks again, Wyatt

just assembled a HF bandsaw for a friend a few weekends ago , we had about 5 nuts/bolts and a few screws left over. When I put mine together a year or so ago , it didnt have any extra. We tripled checked his and sure enuff , these were just extra.

Mine is going on a year now , and am about to replace the Lennox blade for the first time. I know I am not supposed to , but I use the blade to cut steel , G10 , Micarta , Ti , wood... anything I need cut. For now , it will just have to do.

On thing I noticed on my HF saw. Mine is in my garage / shop and if I didn't have the heat on in there and it was below 45 degrees F, the grease that the saw came packed with (in the gear box) would turn into a thick adhesive and almost seize the motor. I dissolved it all with brake cleaner and replaced it with a synthetic W140 and haven't had a problem with it since.
I'm not sure if anyone else has run into this issue when running out to make a quick, cold cut on something but I thought it was worth noting.

And yeah, that "D" handle SUCKS!!! It bit me twice before I killed it off.
