Hinderer just released a new video on YouTube unveiling his latest creation, "The Jurassic." The production models are said to have G10 not titanium:

Looks nice, but not all that excited about it honestly. To me it looks like a Pro-tech TR4 crossed with an XM-18.

Those of you going to the California show this weekend, be sure to ask about it and lets us know your thoughts! Who's buying one?

I wish it had the XM-18's big choil, but I like the double scalloped handle

I don't think it looks like an xm18 blade personally. Its more of a classic clip point. Either way I think it looks super good. I hope if it releases with g10 they at least offer the titanium as an aftermarket option.

It looks like a basic, straightforward design, you ought to be able to get someone to customize it nicely.

I can't seem to get beyond the XM.

I have zero interest in anything new Rick has done.
I am sure they're great knives, it's just that I don't find any of them more appealing than an XM.

I like it, minus the dino scale machining. I'll take a plain or textured Ti scale.

Agreed. Big fan of the XM, would love to see something come out that takes him back to his roots.

I'm just the opposite. I'm at the point where I try to avoid "all metal" scales - titanium or any other metal. One side is okay - if the other side is G10 or something more grippy. I know metal scales can be textured to add grip, but in my experience when they have enough grip, they tend to be uncomfortable to use very heavily, or for very long.

Here is a nicer image from Hinderer's IG post, this one looks like a Spanto grind:

If something isn't broke, why try to fix it?

I actually really like it.. I am actually carrying my xm18 bowie today, and I would add this to my edc rotation for sure... I don't like the blues though on this design scale, that middle bronze one though with the right grind, I'd be sending money !

Looks like a reate/early Kizer collaboration. Looks short and clunky but I bet that hump on the back makes it fairly comfortable. Don't like the "scales", makes it look like a gaudy knife. I bet the fit is good. To each his own but I think the XM looks far better. I think rick should put out more fixed blades. All the ones he's put out seem like really legit knives made for a beating.

Hinderer certainly seems to stick with what he's familiar with.

Yeah, meh. Agreed.

That said, I like the xm-18. This just seems like a superficial departure that doesn't really bring anything new to the table other than cosmetics.
