New Hinderer ZT collaboration

Looks nice, but at that price point I feel you can pay a tad more and just get a non-collaboration knife.

The zt0562cf, is the one I'm eyeing on. It's about as close as you can get to Rick's highend customs, plus it rides on bearings! :)

I am a huge Hinderer fan, I like the Hinderer ZT collaborations as well. I really don't think it is a matter of "either or or" for most of us. I do like the 0562 CF for the M 390 blade steel, KVT bearings, and steel insert on the lockbar. It is not a Hinderer and was not meant to be, however it looks to be a great little package that has Rick's handprint all over it, and will be very accessible. The ZT 0392 is so close to Rick's, I would have to agree with most of you and go for real deal.

I have one of the first Eklipses and love it. I worked hard to get it. The ZT is super cool, but I agree with you FO. Go get the Hinderer.

I also agree with carl, but its important to remember tho bud the rick hinderer eklipse may only be 50 dollars more than the zt colab, but for a good while those secondary market prices for the eklipse will be in the thousands for sure, and although the zt colab will most likely triple in price once they first sell out at least they will have a second and third run of these knives come out way before there is enough real eklipse's by rick on the market to be bought at a decent secondary market price similar to the xm's right now. Just something i thought i would interject

.., but for a good while those secondary market prices for the eklipse will be in the thousands for sure, ... [ZT model will] come out way before there is enough real eklipse's by rick on the market to be bought at a decent secondary market price similar to the xm's right now.

I get where you're going, but until I bought my Eklipse from a blade show lottery winner (paid towards the upper end of the going rate, but for one of the few with bronzed hardware), I was following the Eklipse market pretty closely, and the going rate for user-to-user sales here and on USN was in the 700-800 range, and the few dealers who received stock priced them in the 800-900 range (and sold out pretty quickly), pretty much in line with them having a direct-from-Hinderer price "a bit higher" than the XM-18's. Not arguing with your conclusions, just your data :)

I expect the "from a dealer" price of the Hinderer ZT model will be in the ballpark of half of the "from a dealer" price of the Eklipse. And I expect it will be a great knife. Was a little surprised to see the price in "Sebenza territory", but, as I said earlier, I think, especially with Hinderer doing some of the parts manufacturing themselves, Hinderer is opening up some new ground, in between "production" and "mid-tech/custom", and it will be quite interesting to see how this plays out.

I think your best bet would be to sign up for ZT'S newsletter. No release date that I've heard of. Is there going to be a non tanto version from rhk? I like this style better than the tanto

I just received one of these 0562CFs and, damn, this thing is awesome. Definitely getting some pocket and work time. The bearings are cool, but not a must have. The detent on mine is pretty fierce.

The 0392 ...ehhh, I'm not so interested in. I don't have an Eklipse but that's definitely next on my list. Awesome blade.

I'm a real deal kinda guy too. Purchased a few collaborations but gave some away while others get dusty. Plan was to travel w/ lesser cost knives but every time I was in a new location without my primary carry items I felt ...well a bit odd...well, more odd than usual.

Let the record show. YOU said that, not me :) "To thine own self be true - carry your Hinderer" (well, I paraphrased it, I like my version better)
