new hobby

Run. Run NOW!

That, or get used to eating Ramen and being broke the rest of your life. ;)

Welcome to BF. :)

PS - You'll need a Gold membership or above to talk values or sell here. Also, you'll be taken more seriously if you use complete sentences with proper punctuation, capitalization, and grammar.
Thats cool i dont know how im not spelling right but ok thanks

That is exactly my point. In your reply to me, you used zero punctuation, and the only reason the first letter of your sentence was capitalized was because your device did it for you. Instead, try:

"That's cool. I don't know how I'm not spelling correctly, but ok, thanks."

Punctuation, capitalization, and grammar (highlighted in red) make a huge difference in readability there. Note, I didn't say anything about your spelling (though that's just as important).

I'm only halfway giving you a hard time; I'm also not joking about this. If you're going to be too lazy to type out proper sentences, people here just aren't going to take you as seriously. This seems to be a problem with younger folks that grew up with "smart" phones, and didn't learn to type on a real keyboard.

Hope you take my advice to heart, I'm not trying to be mean about it, just trying to give you some genuine good advice. Enjoy your time here.

Forget about finding the perfect knife for you, it might be out there, but it's easy to fall into a rabbit hole pursuing it.

Just because you love a certain feature on one knife doesn't mean you will love it on a different knife.

Always read/watch a few reviews or ask here before you buy, there is a lot of junk out there.

If you feel like you NEED a certain type of knife for a specific task/sub hobby, try doing it with a knife you already have.

Don't sweat minor imperfections in a knife you already own.

Use your knives and keep them sharp.

Hey guys im just starting to collect knives any tips for me im younger but am interseted in them mostly case maybe buck for a collection and display maybe selling and trading any tips on what to look for and how to determine the value of one thanks
Did anyone else here ever look at something like that & think,"Way back when all the critters were stuck in the tar pit, did they see some other doomed critter wander over & get stuck & think "Hot damn! @ least I won't die alone here". :D :D

As far as "what" - I'm with the side that says - get what you like. (ignore the catcalls from people that say Franklin Mint is garbage.....it is garbage ;) , but, if it tickles your fancy then so be it)

Lots of good info here already so I will add these:

one or 2 quality knives is a better collection than 50 gas station knives or weird movie knives.

make sure you have some knives that are for use, not just collecting

the best way to make a small fortune collecting knives is to start with a large fortune.
