Holy cow! I'm a dedicated knife knut, owning many high end folders over the years. I have to say I'm so impressed with Hogue's new line of Extreme folders designed by knifemaker legend Allen Elishewitz. There are several Youtube vids showing these knives in Allen's shop being tested to the max by Allen himself. Very cool.

After getting one of these in hand I'm sold. Fit and finish is beyond top notch. The blade is stone wash 154cm Rc56-58(this one is the 3 1/2"version). Aluminum OD green handle with button lock. The knife can be safety locked open, though you really can't accidentally close it. You can leave the safety lock switch on even when the knife is closed. Nice feature. The pivot pin and lock are heat treated for maximum strength. I got the tanto version because of the thickness of the blade; incredible! Ergonomics of this folder are outstanding in my medium size hands for standard or icepick style usage. The spoon style pocket clip is reversable for tip up or down pocket carry. There is an upswept hook or choil if you will, on the spine of the tanto blade, which is great for choking up for fine work. The button lock also works as a very stong detent when the knife is closed(see pix).

So all in all a very stout and serious using folder for the masses. I recommend getting one today before they're on back order. Several mods to choose from

i like the one i have, but dislike the handle length. soon as i see the bigger model in drop point out, i believe ill be in love.

definetly top notch, these are supposedly the first of more designs to come, the sooner the better!

Very nice looking knife. I think this tanto with the od green (goldish) is the nicest looking of the hogues.

How is the finish on the handles?
Is it like Microtech and feel like "rubberish". Or is it just smooth.

Could you post an in hand pic of the knife.
I mean hand grip on the knife so we can see the whole hand and knife.
There are more that think the 3,5 is to little size wise.

Again, the 3 1/2" blade is the perfect for my medium size hands. Any knife over 3 3/4" blade to me is moving into fixed bladed territory.

The finish on this is beyond Microtech. To me anyhow. I know these are strong words. But I'm a true Microholic! Guess I would NOT call it grainy, but it does have a grippy feel. Hope this helps.

I got myself the drop point in the same coloration... Love the knife but I keep thumbing the pivot instead of the button. They are too darn close in feel.

Thanks for posting this, I've seen these on newgrahamknives and they've intrigued me. I like the materials and the quality looks pretty good. Are these new? Have these knives been around for a while?

They were really given their formal introduction at Blade this year and have started popping up since then at dealers. I have the 3.5 DP in the same OD handle configuration as the OP's knife. I am in love with mine and have recently managed to work it into the rotation. They open and close smoothly and seem to be very sturdy. Right now I am torn between carrying it and my Umnumzaan (and that says alot ;))

I got the 3.5" drop point with G10 about 3 weeks ago. I couldn't be happier with the knife. Zero blade play, super strong lock, great handle texture, and on and on.

Some of my favorite points:

- Its got big ol' dual thumb studs. They are so easy to catch.
- If you fully disengage the button lock, you can flick the blade open or close with no effort at all.
- Its just a beautiful knife :D

Very nice looking knife. The blade is an interesting design for sure.

Thanks for sharing ! :)

I'm pretty intrigued with these knives as well. Everything I've heard about them so far has been extremely positive. Even Sal Glesser was praising them at BLADE and kept playing with it every chance he got.

Right hand only? How '80s.:thumbdn:

Unfortunately the clip is right hand only. But the rest of the knife is very left hand friendly( for me at least). The knife has dual thumbstuds and the button lock is very easy to work with the left hand index finger. In fact, other than the clip, its one of the most lefty friendly designs I've had in a long time. I just got the 4" drop point in black G-10 and its a solid, well made knife and came sharp as a scalpel.

Glad to see there are a few of us that have taken interest in this folder. Now people know. These are overbuilt to be sure. My Sebenza Insingo is envious.

Yeah, I like my 3.5" drop point with OD Green G-Mascus scales. It's an overall nice folder made from good materials at a great price. I've always liked Elishewitz' style and I think he nailed this knife along with Hogue. The one and only gripe, and it's very small, is that the big choil in the handle is a little too low for my taste. It's still comfortable in the hand, but I like having a bit more of a choked up grip.

Ever checked out a Spyderco lockback model? Just sayin'... ;)

That said, these look very, very nice.

Incredible looking piece, but these knife companies do need to begin to recognize the lefties of the world.

This is mine (also 3,5"), and by the way; the Rockwell hardness is 58-60, not 56-58.
It says so on the box.
