New Hogue Extreme series knives...WOW!

The Hogues just plain rock IMHO. I have a 3.5 and a 4, both in G-Mascus and I consider them a top value today.

This has been #1 on my Knives Wanted list for awhile but I'm wondering about how pocket-friendly it is. Does anyone know how thick the 3.5" (G10) model is?

When i first saw one in a showcase a few months ago, i wrote it off 'cause i thought it was a 500.00 custom,& an auto.when i got home, googled it & found out it was under 200 i grabbed one.fit, finish, everything about it rivals a custom.got the 4" ,gotta get the 3 1/2" next.

The quality of the Hogue EX01 series is absolutely up there; think old school Microtech, but without Tony Marfione.

Top shelf knives no doubt, i have but two minor issues with the 4'' green aluminium drop point design.

1: Why is the choil so far from the edge? There's like two centimeters from the end of my finger to the edge. I realize this could cause problems with the thumb stud. Sometimes i just put my middle finger in the choil and my index on the square hump, but that's not very comfortable.

2: The edges of the handle are really kind of sharp. They are actually hollow ground, which although it looks rather interesting, is very strange. I whittled down the edges on the top, above the lock, quite a lot, just to make it bearable to cut hard.

Unfortunately the clip is right hand only. But the rest of the knife is very left hand friendly( for me at least). The knife has dual thumbstuds and the button lock is very easy to work with the left hand index finger. In fact, other than the clip, its one of the most lefty friendly designs I've had in a long time. I just got the 4" drop point in black G-10 and its a solid, well made knife and came sharp as a scalpel.

For the life of me I can't understand WHY these companies discriminate us lefties......A whole market is wasted.
How hard is it to drill and tap a few more holes????????This really blows my mind:confused:

I"m a lefty too, but ive learned to adapt & use the pocket clip in the right hand position, been doing it for 20 years so as long as theres duel thumb studs or a flipper,i;m ok..

I just picked one up today after reading this thread and watching the videos on Youtube - I was at my local knife store and they had one in stock - and it just so happened to be the one I wanted. Karma anyone??

I am impressed with the amount of knife and fit and finish you get for the price. I haven't had the chance to take it around the block yet, but I think it's a winner.

Pictured next to my Strider SMF and large Sebenza. It's definitely a handful.

If you like the Hogues, track down a Speedtech, also designed by Elishewitz and Jim O'Young....

The clip would cover up the lock button.
