New home for my Beckers et al

Because of this thread, I went and picked up the 27" 4-drawer cabinet. It holds everything but my folders and a couple of HI khuks. Very nice organization. Thanks for the idea.

I grabbed one too, although I've never et Al (nor do I plan to).

You're welcome, it's a good option for me. Hope it works out for ya.

Funny, my dad's name was Al(bert). He'd sometimes get a kick out of telling people to "Go to Al" if they needed something.

I actually went with the rolling cabinet on the bottom. I might eventually add the top.

I got one of the oak machinist's tool chest from Harbor Freight. Has a big storage bin under the lid, multiple drawers of different sizes and all the drawers are felt lined. There's even a diamond shaped mirror on the underside of the lid, and it all locks. It's perfect for my collection, which are all users.

I'm sure there's some kind of mixup, but you only have four 9's.

Four nines is pretty good. :D

Well it was kinda like this...I wanted a 9 and I happened to find a stamped version for a good deal here on the Exchange. It's now my regular user.
Then I wanted one to mod so I found another one 'at a good deal here on the Exchange' ...also a stamped version and that one I've stripped and sanded til I finally decided I didn't really need it any shinier and now I just like to look at that one.
Then I happened to see one with beautiful ironwood scales 'at a good deal here on the Exchange' so...I told myself that at that price I could buy it, swap out and keep the ironwood scales and resell a stock 9 and get most of my money back. But I've kept it so far.
Then I happened to see one on that danged addictive auction site that was a Camillus 'at a good deal' - ridiculous actually compared to what the Camillus versions of all of them are now fetching... and so.

That's my story officer. It happened exactly that way.

(Geesh, I sound like my wife coming home from an antique show or giant flea market.)

You don't have to justify multiple Beckers on this forum. We all sound like your wife coming home from an antique show. You're preaching to the choir. I'm just jealous :D

Umm... no need to rationalize. I'm heading in the direction of nine 9's. I'm up to six.
Bottom one is an unused HH I'm saving for my first hog hunt. Somebody invite me hog hunting!

Nine 9's, so maybe my new goal should be four 4's and sixteen 16's. Hmmm...Ethan's numbering scheme is sheer marketing genius

I'm eyeballing that HF box for my folders. I may have to go by there and look at them.
I can't tell you how much easier it is to find knives now that they're all together and organized by size.
Thanks for this thread.

You're welcome.

Another plus...you'll find some liner material sold in rolls back in the Home Depot shelving and storage section of the store that is less expensive than the drawer liner material in the tool chest section. It's a little different but seems to me it'll do the job just fine...and it's cheaper.

And to all...be observant if you buy one of these toppers...there is a 12" deep version and a 16" deep version of them. I think they're $20 different in price. The 16" just works better for larger blades if you've got the space on your bench or wherever you intend to put it.

This is a great idea, though I am probably gonna stick with what I got for now - similar to Guyon's tool bag for my fixed blades (an old Duluth Trading Long Boy bag); I also have a couple padded folder bags. But....for drawer liners for this method, I would check out the Zerust rust inhibiting drawer liner roll (got mine on sale at Rockler). So far, so good...but it doesn't last forever and....well, I'll let you read about it, but I have a serious moisture problem where I live, and it's helped quite a bit, though I'll have to replace it more often than most users. From the Rockler page:

Protects your tools, toolbox, jewelry and other valuables from rust and corrosion of any kind.
Effective even if you live in a high humidity area, since the VCI molecules are heavier than the moisture molecules on metal.
Non-slip feature holds tools in place, protects drawers from scratches and prevents tool edges from dulling.
Drawer liner is non-absorbent, mold-resistant and cleans with soapy water.
Can easily be trimmed for a custom fit.
Vapors will not harm wood or wood surfaces.
Designed for protection in enclosed spaces—more exposure to open air may reduce life span of product.
FDA approved.
