Nice story. Indeed, welcome to the real world. You will find the most popular knife style in Texas is the trapper and you can wear it on your belt in a Mooremaker style sheath without having the SWAT team called on you. People even wear them to church with no problem. Get yourself a pickup, some boots, and a pair of Wrangler Cowboy Cuts and you will pass for a Texan in short order----unless you open your mouth and they hear your accent.
I knew there'd be a story behind the change from Maryland to Texas in the location bar
I'm glad everything seems to be working out, Jackknife. I've stopped very briefly in Texas a few times and don't know much about it, but from what little I've seen it's beautiful country and the people are great. Enjoy the wide open spaces and the knife friendly people.
There are friendly people everywhere. Welcome to your new chapter Carl.
A mate of mine "Mal" is an old school guy -he goes into the new age coffee shop where double shot decaf soyacinos are the go.
He stands there every time perusing the menu for at least 5 minutes.
The young coffee wench waiting with baited breath for his order.
"Can I gett tayerrrrrrrrrrrrr.....errrrrrrrr....
Coffee..?"
He then gets every type of coffee they make explained to him.
This happens regularly -in the same shop.
He did fall asleep in the shower at work once.
