Darrel wanted me to let you guys know that Kirby Lambert's first HTM collaboration, an original folder design called the Snap, is now available!

The knife has a 3.5" blade made of 154CM, aluminum handles with a machined "frag grenade" texture and Type III anodized hardcoat, and titanium liner lock. The knife opens via flipper and is available in both assisted opening and unassisted (with Maxx Glide bearing pivot) versions. The blade finish options are stonewashed or DLC coated, and the handle colors are Black or Shark Gray. MSRP is $349.95.

These are so new that they aren't even up on the HTM website, but they are available and ready to ship direct from HTM. If you're interested in one or have any questions, drop Darrel a line at dralph@earthlink.net.

And, of course, it wouldn't be a "new knife" thread without some pics! Below you can see three of the four different blade/handle finish combinations: SW/Black, Black/Black, and Black/Shark Gray. I like all of them -- I'm a huge fan of pretty much anything Kirby designs -- but the first one (SW/Black) is definitely my favorite!

Any pictures of the other side? Can I get it in tip down carry??
Just emailed Darrel asking him about this.

I really like low profile flipper and the blade profile on this.
Yeah, I absolutely love the blade profile -- it's my favorite thing about the knife. Kirby really hit it out of the park on that element of the design. (And I'm saying this as someone who's not usually a fan of recurves!)

The one aspect of the knife that I'm still on the fence about is the frag texture on the handles. I kinda wish they'd done something more ETAC-ish -- maybe keep the frag texture but make it smaller (i.e., more frag "squares" per unit area).

Agreed. That was the first thing the wife said when she saw it.

I think I like it better than the Lightfoot collab's fish scale texture.

ETAC has gone though multiple iterations right? Maybe these will as well.

Good point -- ETAC has indeed gone through multiple iterations. Darrel is always adjusting things big and small to try to improve his/HTM's knives, so it's definitely a possibility that we could see another version of the frag texture (or something else entirely) a year or two from now.

I've gotta say, I like the appearance of the knife. Also, I've gotta say that I hope dealer price is far FAR below the MSRP...$349 is insane. I'm a fan of HTM and all, even have a forum knife on order so I'm not trying to bash the company, just being an honest consumer. If I see this for sale for anything more than $199 I'd be in absolute disbelief.
Kershaw Blur in CPM154 and aluminum is barely $100

I was under the impression that these were supposed to be lower priced entry models.

I have seen the lightfoot selling for more than the GH on some sights though.

And I don't think comparing this to a Kershaw Blur is a fair comparison at all. This is a Mid Tech knife, not a mass produced factory piece. The blur does not have a Ti liner either.

Do you find yourself comparing the Sebenza to the Bradley Alias a lot too?

Without making any specific comparisons, a mid tech with 154 cm steel and aluminum handles for 400 dollars seems pricey.

I really like the design, but I wish they chose something else pattern wise on the handle. The frag pattern looks tacky to me.

the texture of the handle, with that pattern, and those colors(any colors) doesn't do it for me

I agree but MSRP is 350. There are several 154CM (not CPM154), G10 (not Aluminum) Emersons with similar MSRPs.

Hopefully street price is in the sub $300 range. That would put it in line with the ZT0560.

I can't see paying more for this than the Gunhammer and certainly can't see paying $10 less than the awesome forum Hammer.

I'd have to agree on the pricing with a sort of "pirate smashing his tankard of ale down on the bar" sort of AYE!!!

The only other thing I would change besides the handle pattern is removing the thumb stud. I love the clean look of a flipper with no studs.

It's sad that the immediate comparison that is going to be drawn with this knife is with a $15 Boker Magnum knife with a grenade shaped and textured handle. Also, while you're in here Neuron, is the CTX-XHP/stonewashed Gunhammer model at Knifecenter a regular production item or a limited run?

Really? With this?

It's a limited run of 600 pieces. It looks like KnifeCenter is the first to have them up for sale, but they're not a dealer exclusive.

Also, Scurvy092, I checked with Darrel, and the pocket clip on the Snap is reversible for tip-down carry.

I'm so tempted but it's like $75 over what I would be willing to pay for it. I'm hoping the dealers will be able to knock a little off of the MSRP.

As I said earlier, $10 less than the ForumHammer is too rich for my blood.
