New Imperial Knives

Heard from a local dealer that they're working on a somewhat untraditional bowie, all metal handle, etc. Maybe it's something along the Gill Hibben lines?
I think they may have seen a prototype, so I'll have to take a run up there this weekend and find out. I've got a MOP whittler waiting for me there anyway :) .

Since CSC does not have a factory store and in fact are not really set up for visitors at all I tend not to bother the craftsmen while working. My info comes 2nd hand from a friend who knows someone that works with........etc.

Surprisingly, although most locals bemoan the loss of the Imperial Schrade plant many have never heard of CSC and are definitely not knife knuts. Its all about jobs. And $$$ leaving the local economy.

Then it seems that someone...local...should take it upon themselves to inform the community about the activity in a little shop in their midst that is causing a stir across the country. Sure, they will not boast 600 jobs, or multi-million dollar economic boon to the community, but they are continuing a heritage trade that the community was built on and thrived on for a hundred and fifty years.

This local dealer that I mentioned goes to the factory personally to buy the knives she's selling. Has a small shop so doesn't buy in huge quantities. At first she used to be able to walk right in, grab a hold of Mr Gardner I believe, and walk over to the case to pick knives out. Now she needs an appointment to do the same. She says things are phenominally busy. Of course with only about 20 people working there it probably doesn't take much to make things hectic, but it's a great sign! Apparently they're investing in new stamping and etching equipment also, so it seems they intend to be around for a while.

I hereby accept the one man bandwagon challenge that Codger has thrown out. Now all I need is a CSC ballcap and the commission checks!:p
