Amazing! I snagged this BATAC with black/tan mag G-10 scales last week, 2nd October, and it's already here. It's quite ridiculous actually. This year, I've gotten stuff delivered to me faster all the way from the US of A from Skunk and Justin at Ranger Knives than from certain people within Finland.
Anyway, this is the first mag scaled BATAC I've ever had, so it's rather a new experience. And with the mag scales, the BATAC feels even larger than normally, amplified by the fact that I have small, girly hands. The blade may be 5 inches, but the knife itself feels huge, more like a 6 incher. At .187" thick the blade itself is just right for the Badger. Strong enough, without being too thick (like the LEs, in my opinion). I'll probably have to pry some stuff with this thing and see how it does.
The black/tan G-10 looks awesome. And it would work well for a snow/winter camo, with the black crinkle coated blade.
The only thing I would change with the BATAC design is loose that choil. It's very awkward to me, but perhaps some have gotten used to it and find it even necessary. Who knows about these things, except for No Regrets?
As for the BATAC specimen I got, it looks great. Finish is top notch, except for something slightly weird with the very top of the blade tip. It looks like it may have either blunted somehow, possibly even chipped, or just wasn't grinded quite symmetrically in the first place, but whatever it is, it makes the tip feel and seem somewhat duller than on my old Badgers. It's not big enough to show in my crappy photo, nor is it big enough for me to actually worry about, at least not yet. Maybe I'll take a look at it with a magnifier, but probably won't bother - it's not that big a deal.
So, in conclusion, a big thank you to Skunk for being hellishly fast! Oh, and thanks for the extra lanyard, too!
