Good Morning! Chris Crawford has informed me that the two instructional videos he produced detailing my methods of sheath making are edited and on the way to be mastered and produced for release. They should be available around the first of November. Below are a couple of links where you can view the introduction clip from each. More information about when, where and how much will be forthcoming.

Edit Edit Edit: Chris advised me that the DVDs are ready and can be purchased via his web site. http://chriscrawfordknives.com/

Gday Paul,
Thanks for taking the time to do them. Im sure a whole generation of knifemakers sheaths are all of a sudden going to improve to a whole new level.
Now a question regarding your sheaths- is there any reason apart from looks that you put the row of stitching across the top front of your sheaths just under neath where the hidden row is that is holding the lining? I would have thourght the row holding the lining would have been enough and it is puzzling me ?? See attched pic

Well, Bruce you caught me. It's 99.5% for looks and .5% as a secondary "insurance " stitch. It is absolutely not necessary for the hand stitchers to waste this extra time and effort, unless they want to. The stitching at the bottom of the chevron overlay, however, is necessary and does serve a real purpose.

Thanks Paul, please dont feel bad about being caught!!!! Your work does invite study and discussion amongst a lot of us. Cant wait for the dvds and thanks again.

I'm so glad I found this thread. What struck me most in this video was the organization of your work space. The more I work the more I see the need for organized placement of tools and materials for the advancement in quality and freedom to create.

There is no substitute for the talent you possess, but to even hope to produce anything acceptable, the basic work movements must be established.

Can't wait to get this vid.

Thanks for the heads-up, Paul.

I'm writing to Santa now.

Thanks for letting us see the master sheath maker at work. You look much younger than Joey led me to believe :D

Looks like they will be very informative videos Paul.....I'm sending these links to my father-in-law right now.:)

Congratulations on a successful video, Paul!

I got Advanced Blade Sheaths yesterday and watched it last night. It answered a couple of questions I've had about your sheaths and gave me a lot more information to work with. Overall it's a great job by you and Chris.

I ordered Basic Pouch Sheaths, too, but it's not here yet. I'm sure it'll show up soon.

Man, I was there when it was born and I still haven't see them. My copies should arrive here today. I hope they do what I wanted and that is help some folks. None of what I do is rocket science, but it helps to see it demonstrated in some cases.

Thanks for your report.

Paul

I ordered "Basic Pouch Sheaths" friday and received it monday. Hows that for service.

I viewed it this morning, had to rip the TV away from my wife, she was very good about it and even watched some with me.

This vid puts you in Paul Longs shop as he builds the sheath in real time, camera work is clear and Paul explains every step as he does it. He points out the little thing that you would probably never learn on your own, and you see the sequence of operations that is so important and one of the things I struggle with trying to learn from the forums.

Seeing how Paul methodically proceeds through each step and how he has organized his shop alone is worth it.

I have one question for Paul, what are the cutting boards made of?

I've been reluctant to buy videos because of a couple of automotive videos that were poor.

Thought I'd give a review from a beginners point of view, hope it's helpful.
