New items added to BCCI memberstore. 35th anniv. knives.

As a BCCI member....same. I'm waiting to see what the BOTM is, and of course, patiently awaiting the BF 2023 knife.
I've seen this mentioned a few times. Is there an exclusive forum knife for each year, in addition to the BCCI yearly and Bucks own limited editions?

They are talking about the BladeForums knife, which isn't necessarily a Buck knife. In fact, it is almost guaranteed not to be a Buck knife. BCCI does yearly and also special editions throughout the year. These will be Buck knives. The 35th anniversary knives that are being talked about are left-over ones from the 35th BCCI anniversary meeting at Buck. All these BCCI knives are either special ones that are commissioned to Buck or done by a private customizer. Buck on its own does monthly BOTM. They also do these "stealth" runs and web specials throughout the year. As an aside, you may also hear of SFOs. These were special runs commission by private companies (SMKW, Copper&Clad,DLT Trading, SKBlades, etc.) for special-edition Buck knives. Buck discontinued doing SFOs a few years ago (Buck please allow this again).

As HH explained about annual Blade Forum knife Buck did do the 2018 Blade Forum knife. A CPM 154, two bladed 301 stockman with elk slabs was chosen...

But that what done in the days that SFOs were allowed. Would such a thing be possible now?

I wouldn't think it would be a problem as long as they were given lead time.

GEC does it and one would think they would have way less staff than Buck same with Viper probably too.

If I remember correctly, GEC announced several years ago that they weren't doing any more SFO's but they still do them.

I would be surprised if Buck would refuse to make another Bladeforums knife if they were presented with the request. They do the BOTM and Stealth runs as already mentioned. Those are kind of like an SFO. They aren't ordered by an outside dealer but Buck has to make special arrangements to produce them just like they do with SFO's.

I guess my point is that I think Buck likes us Bladeforums folks. I can only assume that they might bend the rules a bit to make us another knife if we really wanted it.

They definitely like us :D plus they are active on the Forum, I wouldn't be shocked if they do another round.

I think it's all about lead time for companies like that.

Probably not, partly because of the way things are now with Blade Forum and with the management at Buck.

When Buck's 301 was chosen, it was done on the basis of numerous polls in the Traditional Folders and Fixed Blades forum. The requirement, was then, that there needed to be person/business(Stephen at SK Blades) willing to take on the task. That entailed, coordinating with Buck, managing all the details of payment(on both ends), receiving, mailing/distributing around 500 knives. A daunting task!

The process has changed and is now for this year being handled by Spark(owner of Blade Forum) with Bill Howard(owner of GEC).
