I have seen pics of this primitive knife before and loved it. This past April at the OKCA show in Eugene OR, I found one on a dealer's table and snagged it. Love the design but had a few things I wished were different so I made my own version
Not sure if the original is from Malaysia or Phillipines but my bet is it's close to that region of the world. A file test of the blade shows it has a pretty good temper. Also has some nice edge geometry too. For my own version, I added the double lanyard holes,used 1/4in steel, black G10 scales, and a little larger handle size. Suits me just about perfect
