I just bought a Kershaw Manifold Blackwash this past Sunday 11-16 and I haven't even had it for a full week and it Broke. I grabbed the knife to cut some para chord and when I deployed the knife the Speed Safe Torsion bar snapped. I haven't abused the knife at all, neither have I drooped it. Now it is part of Kershaw' "Budget" line I bought it for $21.35 and it is manufactured in China but I'm still disappointed. Now I'm not hating on Kershaw. I have had a Blackout for years and Ive never had one problem with it. But a knife that broke this quick doesn't deserve to wear the Kershaw Name. I'm gonna send it back warranty repair mabey I was in luck and receive a faulty knife and the rest are amazing I'll update this thread once I get the knife back from kershaw.

You can either send the knife in or just email the warranty department and they will send youa new torsion bar for free. That is a shame though that it broke that quickly

Just email them saying that your torsion bar broke and that you would like multiple replacements incase it happens again.

When I got my ZT0300 I had heard about the torsion bars breaking so I emailed them. They sent me 3 torsion bars, and all the hardware short of scales and a blade for my ZT0300. Took about 10 business day for it to come to Canada.

Edit: did I mention it was free.

Torsion bars break. I have had them snap the first time I fire a knife. It sucks when it happens but these things happen. The good news is its an easy fix and Kai will take care of it.

Just submit the warranty submission through the website and request a new torsion bar and replace it. Easy as can be.

I have already emailed kershaw and they are sending me a new torsion bar so hopefully I can fix it soon. This will be my last spring assisted folder. That's also why I'm a big Spyderco guy. Not really that much that break on those.

the "Speed Safe" is a guaranteed fail sooner or later for every knife that features it.

The knife didn't fail, the Speed Safe did.

I know it probably won't happen, but I wish the KVT ball bearing system would replace SpeedSafe for precisely this reason. Vastly more reliable and just as fast (or faster)

Probably not for $21.35 though.

Torsion Bars are funny, I've had one last a few weeks and I have ones that I've been used for years and have never needed to replace them. Just the nature of the beast.

While a new Kershaw shouldn't break, and I'm sure they will make things better for you, It might help put things in context if you describe how you "deployed" the knife, LETHALBLADES . Did you just open it or was it some wrist flicky thing?

I've had the same experience. Chalk it up to bad luck. Good news is that the torsion bars are generally easy to replace.
