New Kershaw Folders

That R.A.M. looks amazing!
I'm curious what the pocket clip looks like and what mounting options are available. Kershaw is notorious for excluding us lefties in clip placement. That's what had held me off of buying the Junkyard Dog series; or pretty much any Kershaw folder.

According to the literature the clip is reversible - which means tip up or down carry -

But looking at the pic the lock slide-button is on the front-side of the handle which means one cannot mount the clip on that side for lefties.

The lock slide-button on that side is fine for righties - but obviously causes some inconviencies for lefties.

Otherewise the knife is ambidextrous in the flipper and those rods acting as "thumb-studs" for opening.

R.A.M. looks great to me, and has a finger choil, which I vastly prefer in a knife. Looks like a winner!

Man, Kershaw needs to slow down a bit! I'm still waiting on the NRG to be released, and here we already see a bunch of new models. The RAM looks like it might be a winner, but as far as a knife with this opening system goes, I'm betting on the NRG to be lighter, more funtional/utilitarian and less gimmicky of the two. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
As an aside, I've been waiting on a Ken Onion knife named the "Shallot" for some time now! Figured that he'd eventually get around to the rest of the vegetable family :).

I just ordered a shallot the other day. This should be interesting! A chive on steroids!!

I want that Shallot!

Though, hopefully i can get someone to redrill it for lefty carry. I still don't understand why Kershaw only drills clip holes for righties on the majority of it's knives. A couple little holes really don't ruin a knifes aesthetic.

Thanks for the kudos guys !!! Shallots and Tyrade have shipped. Let us know what you think about them when you get one.

I really like the looks of the Shallot (and the name is just too cool), but I wish the blade wasn't bead blasted.

I've got several Kershaw knives, I find them all very useful but the bead blasted blades rust with surprising ease. They require the same care as carbon steel folders, otherwise small rust spots appear. Maybe the combination of high humidity here in Buenos Aires and my own metal-eating sweat is causing the problem.

I got to handle the Shallot today, and holy crap that knife is awesome.

For all the people who love their Leeks but find them a bit too small to be really comfortable in the hand, this knife is perfect. It's just a bit bigger in every dimension and the frame hugs right into your hand in a forward grip.

There's no lock to keep the blade closed, and Kershaw's compromised by making the Speedsafe's action a little heavier, requiring more force to fire the blade open. It engages with authority and feels like a Leek on steroids.

I'll be picking one of these up as soon as Christmas is all taken care of, and i'll probably buy whatever other blade steel variations they make. Here's hoping for zdp or s30...

:D

Exactly!
I think the Shallot will be a huge success.
I'm sure that there are plenty of folks (just like me) who think that the Leek is just a little too small, but they don't want the larger Vapor because it's made in China.
The Shallot seems like the perfect solution!
