New Kershaws: Amplitude, Nura 3.0 & 3.5, Starter, Cryo G10 & Cryo Tanto BlackWash

You'll have to get in line, Schuey. ;)

No one who's interested in coming close to Hinderer quality in a Kai knife is going to be satisfied with a Cryo. The materials just aren't there. And for me at least, the 0566 is NOT the answer. With a blade length of 3.25" and a weight of 5.3 ounces, it's still too big and too heavy to qualify as a variant of the 3" XM-18.

The Cryo 1555G10 is proof positive that Kai has the wherewithal to build the Hinderer knife that's missing from the ZT lineup. And the 0770CF is proof positive that ZT isn't allergic to building lightweight knives. With that in mind, a 3" XM-18 variant with specs more closely resembling those of the original shouldn't be a question of if. It should be a question of when.

I can't speak for anyone else, but frankly I'd be curious to know what sort of illegal narcotics were being ingested by the person who was expecting a $35 8Cr13MoV steel imported knife to somehow equal qualities found on a knife costing hundreds of dollars.

I'm not knocking the Cryo. It's a home run for Rick and a home run for Kai. I even had a chance to inspect the new G10 Cryo and it's a very nice knife for what it is. But it's not in the same league as a ZT, let alone an original Hinderer 3" XM-18, nor does it pretend to be IMO.

If I'm going to buy a 3" XM-18 variant, it's going to have to come close to emulating the original . . . particularly in terms of materials, build quality, size and weight. ZT is more than capable of producing it. It's whether or not they're willing to produce it (and, of course, whether or not Rick is willing to let them produce it) that counts.

If they start producing too many of his design, Rick might go the way of Tim Galyean and end up closing shop to design full time.

Cool knife. I like mine quite a bit. I carry mostly ZTs these days with a Kershaw Blur or two sprinkled in, but sometimes when I don't want to carry a big heavy $100+ knife somewhere, the cryo will probably get the nod.

I've had it less than 12 hours and I'm pretty sure it is going to unseat my Kershaw Scallion as my go to EDC blade. I really like it.

Thanks for the vids! I pre-ordered an Amplitude about 2 months ago based on pics and specs alone. I think I'll like it for a small office knife after viewing your video.
