New kershaws for 2014?

Funny the ET has been mentioned more than once for a comeback, because when it debuted people were pretty quick to dismiss it. I remember "prop", "gimmick", and some other choice words to describe this unique and useful knife...

I own like 15 China made Kershaws because like I said i didny know better when i started collecting......I find the steel cheap and the knives feel poorly put together on most. Now for the money you still cant beat what u get but if thats all their going to make Ill just stay with ZT and find another company. Dont get me wrong I love Kershaw knives but wont buy anymore China made knives but i like to own every model

They're not poorly put together. They're actually very well put together just like an American kershaw. They just use 8cr13mov which rusts. And it just doesn't connect with me like an American kershaw does.

My Cryo is perfect in every way. That knife reinstilled confidence into Chinese Kershaws for me. I thought they were all going to be liner locks that aren't lefty friendly for clips. The Cryo, Dimension, Cryo 2, and Thermite fixed it for me.

Back on topic of new Kershaw models, I heard that the Diskin folder is going to be made in China for next year. I am super excited if that happens, because that knife looked awesome, and the new assist technology might be a winner, especially because it is super compact.

I have at least a dozen China made Kershaws and not a one of them feels poorly put together in the least. They feel as well put together as my American made Kershaws and Spydercos, in fact. The steel is a cheaper steel and does dull fairly quickly, but beyond that(which is to be expected for a $20 knife), I have no complaints about any of them.

Tim Galyean has gone full-time working at Kershaw, so I can only hope we see some updated versions of his knives, maybe in the ZT line (hey, I can dream).

How about a ZT 0600 with a 3" blade of S30V (hell, I'll take a thin, 3" ZT0600 in Sandvik) and G-10 and Ti or Al. Assisted or not, but prefer non-assisted to keep the handle slim and light. The Volt II is just too thick. Call it the "Chill II" if you want.

Have you seen the stainless volt 2?

I agree with the Tilt, another LE in a different steel. Also, I'd like to see ZT's version of the wharncliffe 56x - it would be a natural progression to parallel Hinderer's wharnie.

Don't understand all the haters of the assisted openers?everybody that I know personally ,that has the assisted likes them?sorry guys for going off topic but honestly if it bothered me that bad I wouldn't even buy the knife

I hear ya brother, i like assisted. In all honesty I would take assisted over kvt anyday. My 0560 is slick too a fault. I spent an hour today with a dremel re-assisting my 0350 with aftermaket kryptoglow scales. No detent :( I still love the 0560 but the 0350 will be getting a lot more pocket time. To me, the stock 0350 with flat scale cant compare but toss on aftermarket scales and is right there.

In my opinion Speedsafe is really only appropriate on small sleek knives with a flipper. The Leek, Scallion, and Chive are all great with speedsafe. But on other models it's not as good. I much preferred the Blur, Echelon, and ZT0350 de assisted. If the blade is large and heavy enough then it is easier to impart momentum to it because it has more inertia. That, along with a good detent, makes the flipper "push back" and you're trying to open it, and that lets you impart more kinetic energy into it.

I've never had a Chinese made Kershaw that I really loved. I've had some that were okay, but they never saw pocket time so I ended up selling them. They're all great for the money, but just not all that great overall. Good enough for the "Hey this looks cool" dude at Walmart.

I do have a Volt SS on the way, hopefully that one will be better.

One thing I absolutely hate about the Chinese models is when they uses teflon washers. Instead of a single phosphor bronze washer on each side they put a teflon and tin (or something) washer pair on each side. Every single one I've ever had developed blade-play. So then you go and tighten the pivot to fix it only to find the teflon washer has "squeezed" out and totally deformed. Really, how much does and pair of PB washers cost? Why use this crap teflon plastic!? I had this problem with my Kershaw Dimension. I had to send the knife to KAI to fix. I asked them if they could fix it using PB washers instead of teflon ones but instead they sent me a totally new Dimension with teflon washers.... whatever, I ended up selling it.

I would love to see some limited edition Kershaw models, USA made with a premium steel. Not necessarily a current model but maybe a retired model, such as the Tyrade. This would be similar to the release of the 1660TG10. I can't wait to see what new models will come out for 2014. Come to think of it, I still need to pick up an Injection 3.5

I agree about the 0560. It was always too smooth. But I do prefer bearings. I prefer my flippers to be more like buttons, with bearings and a good detent, this is possible.

It's a fine line though as I also want to be able to open a knife slowly should I choose to.

I would just like to see less limited production knives that wind up on the secondary market for twice the price.
