I ordered a new pair of hikers today in anticipation of the warmer weather headed our way in NJ. I should have a new pair of Keen Bronx Mesh shoes in Steel at my door on Friday. Being a fan of their sandals I figured I might as well try their shoes.

I have been considering the black mid Bronx in leather for a while. Under $100 delivered. Let me know how these break in.

Best Regards,

I have two pairs of Keen sandals (Newport and Newport H2) and my wife has a pair of Keen shoes. Both of us really like them, nice and comfy.

Keep us posted on how you like these.

Ken, I've been hiking around NJ for the past year- those look pretty comfortable. I've been using a pair of Wolverine steeltoes that I waterproofed. They've gotten pretty beat up.
Hopefully Ramsey Outdoor carries them, with my wide feet I have to try everything on first.

Here are 4 stores on or near Route 17 that carry Keens.

The shoes sizes run the same as the sandal sizes. I would image that you could/would wear socks if you wish. In the summer I wear short, thin socks or none at all. I don't think they would be much of a problem.

Big Keen fan here. I've got Newpot, NewportH2, Providence, Boston shoe and chukka, looking at some new sandal models. Anybody done business with zappos.com? Very satisfying.

Ok, I am sporting my new Keen Bronx Mesh shoes and they rock! Comfortable, good looking, and fit well. I also picked up a new pair of Newport H2's in OD green. I had ordered my Bronx shoes from Zappo's but I found that they had them and the rest of the Keen line at Ramsey Outdoor. I will have to return the other ones back to Zappos when they get here tomorrow.

Whatever happened to Airwalk? I have an old pair of Airwalk dress shoes, they still feel great. I'm pretty much stuck on Nike and Doc Martens, I got Nike walking and hiking shoes, and Doc Marten dress shoes.

Keens are the hot item since last year. My friend owns a shoe/outdoor clothing store in Saugatuck and he kills with the Keens. Very hot, very trendy.

And not to mention rugged. For a company that is only 2 years old they have really raised the bar on what a sandal/outdoor shoe should be.

You're right. Last year's hot sellers were that sort of open hybrid between a sandal and shoe and I think you can put them in the dishwasher safely to clean them. Sweet!

Keen pretty much cornered the market in the hybrid sandal/shoe department last year. This year they came out with some pretty cool looking styles and color combos. They have a Bronx Mesh mid cut that I might pick up for the fall.

I have a pair of black, all-leather bronx and they are great.

I travel quite a bit and I wanted a pair of shoes that I wouldn't be too casual out to dinner, but I could walk on a trail in, and work out in. The Keens have really fit the bill.

I just wore them to a trip up to Toronto and it was about 15 degrees F the three days I was there. I had no problem with moisture or cold. I also have worn them while traveling to the Caribbean and they were great in warm weather.

I especially like the beefy toe bumper and I'll bet we will see that style of toe on more shoes/boots in the future. I can see tactical boots using that type of toe because it holds up to abuse so well.

One more thing, I got mine from Zappos and it was a great experience. No shipping and they shipped them 2-day. The first size was a bit too small, so Zappos shipped another pair (free) before recieving the smaller pair. The shipping for the returened pair was even free, they even include the label. You can't beat that with a stick.

When they make a hunting or backpacking boot, I'll buy them.

Testimonial

Most of the Keen styles are goodlooking like the Spyderco Military is good looking (for me anyway). It's sort of an acquired taste and the real beauty is in the utility. Once I put on my first pair of Keens (Newport H2's), I discovered a new level of comfort and utility. I used them hard last summer camping in Michigan for over a month. The perfect summer footwear. I'm not normaly prone to cult like adherence to a product or or buying what is trendy or hot...but these shoes deliver. Mind you, my H2's aren't a year old and I can see they'll need to be replaced in the next year. Worth every penny, though. Finding Keen shoes was like discovering the Addidas cross country shoe in 1973...or the Nike waffle trainer a few years later. A real help if your running 20 to 35 miles a week. Blah, blah, blah....Anyway Keen shoes have been very, very good to me as my old body starts breaking down. They have been a bright spot in the past year of avoiding foot surgery. Sadly not even Keen shoes have stabilized the skeletal changes in my left foot. There will be less camping this summer while I see if the foot surgery is everything it's cracked up to be. Poor me. Ha!

Martin Keen is the man behind the new shoe line. He did quite well previously designing shoes for Clarks. Now his own name is on his designs.

Sorry, I just had to ramble on about Keens. People tease me at work because I've come to wear Keens almost exclusively. They are distinctive with that toe cap...kind of like the Spyderholehump.

"Life is too short for crappy shoes." I probably say that 20 times a day to patients. "My back hurts, my knee hurts..." Well, try changing your damn shoes! Or come get adjusted every other day for the rest of your life. Your choice! :)

I'm uncontrollable! I just ordered a pair of Bronx Mid Mesh in Black. Three new pairs of shoes in 2 days. I'm worse than a woman! :D

Well, I'd say you're maybe more of a metrosexual than a woman. When you start matching your handbags to your shoes, then you can upgrade to woman status. :D ;)
