Hello, my name is Edge, and I love knives …

I am new to Fiddlebacks, not sure why it took me so long, but after much reading, comparing, admiring, and imagining … this week I purchased my first two Fiddlebacks from the forum.

I haven't received either yet, and I am now riding that giddy guilty "can't wait till they get here" feeling … you know the one … it's the reason the self-propelled mower is now a push mower, the reason the hole in the bottom of your workbooks is now a "cooling feature", the same reason it's not so bad to have to slap the side of the microwave to get the turntable moving again …

So anyway, I picked up a Tuxedo Bushboot (thanks, mckrob!) and a Cocobolo Bushfinger (props to TPVT!), after much deliberating I figure these two will be a good starting point … I use my knives for the most part; pretty active in Scouts with my boy, do a lot of hiking, camping, fishing, trying to learn a little bushcraft because … well because it's just cool … and I … just … can't … wait!

Thanks for listening.

Congrats and welcome! I carried a black wood handled Bushboot daily when I lived in the city, great knife. Now that we have moved out to rural farm country I edc a tuxedo Recluse I wanted for a hunting knife and I love it. Since I started carrying the Recluse daily the wife snagged the Bushboot. Andy makes fantastic knives that work as well as they look and feel good.

Thanks, mistwalker. Glad to be here. Many of your posts have been part of my decision making process for sure.

Welcome and congrats on your new Fiddlebacks! Those are two really nice models that you have coming. :)

Thanks VANCE, I have been on a couple of those before … usually results in some pretty fine knives!

Speaking of which … my Bushfinger arrived today, and I am REALLY happy with it (thanks again TPVT!). I have carried a Fallkniven Idun for the past year or so as my "go to" camp/hike/bushcraft knife, and it is a great great blade … the Bushfinger is almost identical in dimensions (except blade height), and as much as I love the Fallkniven, I have to say the Bushfinger feels better in hand - much more comfortable and ergonomic … I am psyched to get it out in the field! Great balance, and the weight is perfect! Very pleased with it. I am going to knock the patina down to square one (no dis, TPVT), so I can "build" my own … but first, she's off to Tal so he can use her as a last for his Bushfinger sheaths … worth the wait though. Thanks again to all for the help and encouragement. Now I wait for my Bushboot to come (next week, thanks mckrob) … and then, the brand new Sneaky Pete I snagged from today's FB Friday! … think I need to chill for a while now, groceries and all that … but I do believe I have been bitten ...

no offense taken. there was definitely some good "goo" toward the tip that i thought about taking the sandpaper to. but, i figured i would let you handle it. didn't want to scratch it up before it went to its new home.

glad to hear you like it.

Welcome Edge! I am originally from the Eastern Shore of Virginia. Little town called Nassawadox. About 30 miles past the Bay Bridge.

Glad to have you here!

Thanks, Whitty!

I'm in Suffolk, but used to live in Virginia Beach, right near the foot of the Bay Bridge on the Southern VA end (Chick's Beach) … the Eastern Shore is a pretty cool place … seems to stay unchanged for the most part. Hopefully it will stay that way …

You scored another cool one Edge. I think the Sneaky Pete is my favorite. I messed one up last week and radically changed everything, removing maybe 1/8" all the way around. It came out very sexy, so I traced it. Then I took another 1/8" off and have two new patterns. The thinnest one looks like a small foil. I've not seen past the already profiled steel though. Its hard to predict what the result will be. You kind of have to blur your eyes and extrapolate the end product when you design them this way. I didn't take any pics of my dud. I need to. Been carrying it all week. Great score for sure, and thanks for your support.
