I've wanted to make a kiridashi with a bottle opener for a little while and came up with this design. Do you guys have any input on how the opener part would work? I'd like to make a mock up too but am not sure how to do it. Is there any way to print out this design on a piece of paper that I could cut out to the exact dimensions I have here? I've printed off of my CAD design but it blew the size up when I did.

These were going to be AEBL by the way...

Looks good, maybee you could make the the angle of the cutting edge more acute. As for making a copy of it, I use i-pad to blow it up to whatever size I want (I use caliper to set the size) and then place a piece of paper over the screen and trace with #2 pencil. Works like a charm. I like it!

With semi large hands like mine I'm a little concerned that I'm going to open up my palm along with my beer. Can you put the opener on the spine close to the pointy end?

Well the idea was to have a sheath for them that you would have on when opening bottles. I think that should take care of that problem.

I do not think you are giving people, ones with beer in particular, their due in terms of ingenuity in hurting themselves. I'd be worried about cutting myself with that too.

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

this doesn't relate to your question...
but I like nominal sizes always (if possible)

4.2524 ------> 4 1/4"
.8614 -------> 7/8"

but it's your design, if you have a need for those specific sizes, so be it :-)

if you have adobe illustrator what I do is export it as dxf or dwg file then open it in illustrator

There's not any need for these sizes, it's just as close as I could get with the program. :P

Where is this thing? Pics please

The pic is working for me... I'll try here.
