Wahooo, my new KMG will be shipped out Monday. I got it with the platen and the small wheel atachment and a 3/4" small wheel. I already have a homemade machine with a 8" contact wheel. I have a 2 hp continues duty motor on the way also. The motor runs at 3400 rpm any suggestions on the sizes of stacked drive pulleys I should get?

I used a quick motor like that for about a year with Rob's step pulleys. I hooked it up table saw style (hanging on a pivot). Anyway, I went with only the small step on the motor side and switched the grinder steps for a slow, medium and fast speeds. On this set up you need to be able to shift the motor a little to keep the belt lined up, or just have the motor far enough away that a longer drive belt won't run at too sharp an angle. Works perfectly fine, I just found the gravity mounted motor had a slight vibration/bounce that went away when I was able to set up a ridgid mount.
Best of luck, Craig

Mine shows up Monday! So excited. 6 Nessmuks profiled today!

I would be excited too! I'd love to get a KMG but I'm going to start out with a Coote. (maybe bad idea but whatever)

I planned on using a hanging motor maybe I can find some bigger wheels for the grinder or mount a poney shaft to slow everything down. and if I have to I will put a spring or shock in to help the vibration. The grinder I have been using is a 2x72 made by my brother. It is like a Coote and is all stainless. It has a 8" wheel and I plan to keep using it as such. Plus less belt changing. It is an OK machine but I like the changable possibilities of the KMG. I can make more arms for the KMG to.
