I really liked Gerry's work so I contacted him about making me a field knife. I sent him a sketch and he made it exactly as I had pictured it. That was only a couple weeks back, and he contacted me letting me know it was done, wow that was fast! He sent these pics and I had to post them. Steel is 3/16ths" 1095.

I have held knives that had two shallow finger grooves on them and they always felt comfortable and secure, that's one of the features I wanted. I also wanted the blade edge to come right up to the very small guard.

Looks like he knocked it out of the park :D

More to come when I get it in my hot little hands

Man, that's cool! And that is what you get when you work with one of the many very talented knifemakers we have access to; exactly what you want.

Congrats!

T- wow.. that is an awesome knife.... GL does some great work... i love the design... looks like a perfect field knife....

hopefully we can meet up in april, i would love to check that one out....:D

It has been great dealing with so many of the great makers on BF, great knives by great makers. Sometimes I'm afraid my poor attempt at a sketch may not convey exactly what I want, but I have yet to be anything less than impressed at the knife that was created from it.

Definitely Mike, between us we have enough steel to choke an army of horses, lol :D

Yea, I'm big into Gerry's stuff. He's good folk too.

Here's a couple I picked up from Gerry last year, he does some fantastic work. I can't wait to get one of his small axes!

A skinner:

Those are nice mckrob! That's why I was interested in his work, he makes great blades.

Here's one more showing the spine and the nicely contoured handle. I love a hand filling handle.

Strewth, I've only just finished drooling at that little hatchet of his that cropped up recently. This looks like an ideal thing to pair with it.

It looks great and real funtional as well, what's the blade length 5" ?

I actually don't remember what length blade I asked for :o I'm sure it's somewhere around 4-5" though, that's my comfort zone.

You mean this one.:D

That knife looks awesome, I have to to get it so I can have a matching pair.

He said he really liked the design and wanted to make more, so you may want to watch the makers sale section ;) I do like his pocket axe, dangit why'd you have to show that pic?!

I love that pocket axe and that new blade looks great as well. The few of his pieces I have seen for sale seem very reasonable for such beautiful work.

Thanks for sharing.
