Hey everyone I have recently just got into Knife collecting and I need some recommendations for a good EDC UNDER 60 dollars. I like bigger knives 3-4 inches blade length is my preference. My area won't allow me to carry. I want a good main knife like a signature knife until I get someone money. Please help!

Welcome!

Do you own any knives now?
What do you do with them?

Do you own a Spyderco Delica and Vic SAK like a Tinker? If not, buy those.

Yes I got two cheap Kershaws to start out my collection. The OSO Sweet and the freefall. I use them for simple everyday tasks, cutting paper, opening packages, other everyday stuff as well as some harder use out in the woods occasionally or fishing trips. I'm not looking for a tactical knife but I would like it if I could defend my life with the knife that I will be getting. Around the 60 dollar price range

Then I'd get a slipjoint like a Victorinox Swiss Army Knife or Case (like a stockman). If you are serious about being "into" knives, you should experience using a non locking knife with a thin blade.

You might give the Buck 486 a go. The handle is made from a polymer material with a belt clip attached and a thumb opener. Overall length is 8.5" with a blade length of 3.5"
they are a dandy knife, hold up well and sharper than he**. You might locate one on the bay. They are a quality knife with a low cost, about 65% less than $60.00.

A victorinox seems too small for my tasks. I am wanting to get into knives. It seems like an awesome hobby

some will say start off top teir some will say lower end i say start where your pocket book allows, i own alot of kershaws and benchmades in the 50 to 150 range and enjoy them all. im not gettin intto spydercos so ill see how they fit in to my rotation and use. i have a hard time buying non USA made knives but im working on that because the more i read here the more i hear and see knives that are well respected not made here so only time will tell. kershaw blurr is a great knife in that range try that one out. and welcome get that pocket book out its addictin.g

Thanks! I know I'm already hooked. I'll check out the blur see if I like it. I might have more questions in the future because I'm a knife noobie. Sorry if I'm going to be annoying with all my knife questions

Precisely my point. You have never used one. It may be perfect for your tasks. Many feel a knife like that is more than enough. But you don't know.

See my point? You are making a call about them without experience. And if you want to enjoy the hobby, you will want to learn about it.

- Kershaw Blur (many variations, quick opening, the standard goes for around $50)
- Spyderco Endura (good sized blade around $60)
- Cold Steel Recon 1 (you can get the old version with aus8 steel for around $50)
- Swiss Army Knife (every knife collector should have at least one, my personal favorite is the orange alox victorinox cadet. It goes with me everyday)

Ontario Rat 1 is a staple cheapie or the Utilitac generally under $30

Svord Peasant Friction Folder under $20

Its been said the Spyderco Endura around $60

Kershaw Skyline is highly suggested.

I carry one of the large 111mm SAKs every day. It does 99% of all of my daily cutting. I prefer the two layer models because of the tools, but if you want thin, there are a couple that are a single layer in thickness.

I would definitely look at the Spyderco Delica and Endura as possibles. Both are very good knives at a middlin price point. I prefer the Delica size. Have two Endura's. One of my favorites is the Spyderco Native 5, but I believe it is a tad above your price point.

The Kabar Dozier folding hunter is a good one for under $30. Not a great knife, but a very good one for the price.

I've been researching some knives and this is my list. Utillitac II, Sypderco Dragonfly 2, Emerson/Kershaw cqc 7k, Spyderco Delica 4, SOG flash II tanto, Kershaw cryo II. Now I have to choose between those

@60$ the Spyderco Endura is a great option...

Ascend, we are in a very familiar state, I too just started collecting, I am on knife #4 on the to buy list. I too wanted to stay in the budget line to get several knives in the collection and then step up gradually. So far it's Leek, Ripple and Cryo G-10, really like all purchases so far! Next up RAT 2, Manix LW S110V, BM Mini Grip. Rat 1, E/K CQC 6 or 7k, I also like that Utillitac and then maybe a Tenacious (not sure about that one), but who knows it may all change by then! Good hunting!
