I've just bought that nice Master Hunter in Carbon V.
It has a very nice handle and a pretty handsome blade.
The sheath holds the knife securely and is well built, but when I pull out the knife several times the section around the belly gets a bit duller... Maybe there's something metal inside the sheath that contacts with the blade.
I'll make some field tests of the knife in the weekend and will post more pictures :)

That is indeed one of the older Carbon V models but with a new sheath..how odd. They are good knives for general outdoor use. Word of caution, Avoid getting insect repellent (Deet) on the kraton handle if you can. It softens the surface and makes it feel sticky. A good buy nontheless. best regards Anrkst

I aesthetically hate the looks of plastic and rubber knives, but that looks so practical and unpretentious that I like it.

Thanks Guys !

I know a lot of people don't like Cold Steel.I'm not a big fan of them myself. But I've readen only good stuff about the old- Camillus made - Carbon V knives.
I think that the Master Hunter will make one good outdoor blade.
Mine has a thinned, convex cutting edge - it's a pretty good slicer
I can't wait to get some patina on that thing - I don't like shiny knives ! :D
Chris_Norden - I don't like synthetic handles/sheaths too,but for a hard use knife they are indeed pretty darn practical.
milani74 - The Fallkniven F1 is a nice knife, but has way too small and slippery handle for my liking. That's why I bought the Cold Steel - it has a larger handle and offers plenty of grip. :)
Anrkst6973 - I've also noticed that some of the Carbon V Master Hunters have different sheaths. This one was first bought by a friend f mine from CS' official dealer in Bugaria. He has use it as a hunting knife for a short time, but then started using other knives. So I bought the knife from him.I plan to give it some good use :D

Should be a pretty good blade, congrats!I always thought the older Carbon V knives were good blades.I have an old Trailmaster and Recon Scout, both in Carbon V,and find no fault with either.

these are EXCELLENT knives!
i freakin' luv mine!...i think you will too!

the carbon v models from CS just rock....period.

let us know, your opinion, when you field test/get one.

I've just cut some chicken meat and some lemon for the marinate - the knife is a really good slicer and very comfortable to use !

Welcome to the club, I've put mine through hell and back and is definitely my go to knife for abuse.

The sheath for it does a pretty good job, though I did unmount the cordura belt loop. I use mine as a neck knife with paracord and firesteal loop mounted to the sheath I molded from hot plastic.

They're very solid blades. Definitely a working, no-frills design. Also popular with lots of folks who use blades for a living.

I love the Master Hunter in Carbon V. I lost my first one, liked it so much I bought a second one. Exactly like yours. Carbon V with that exact sheath. However, I have a custom kydex high-ride sheath for mine.

That's a big flat grind blade, takes a wicked edge. It has a thick spine for those that want to beat the hell out of their blades :D

I understand the warning about Deet, but I think you would have to spray it right on the handle. I've been using mine for over 10 years with zero problems. It has a great grip even when wet, which is what I like about it.

If I had to pick one knife to go survival trekking, this would be it.

So what if it looks like a holier-than-thou Falkniven? Maybe the Falkniven is a copy of the Master Hunter. Who cares? They're both good basic knife designs.

Good choice. If the rivets on the sheath are dulling your blade, consider a custom kydex, there are people here that make them for probably about $30.

I didn't know that, cool!
Thats why forums are better sources of info than even the manufacturers/retailers.
Owners take more and often better detailed pics from multiple angles and give info the manufacturers/retailers often don't give.

Brilliant little knife and I believe one of their best. Borne of a time when bushcraft was zeitgeist of the future concerning thongs that hadn't been invented yet and not piddling about with softwood.

I only had two concerns with it: 1] I no longer see the point of low corrosion resistant steels on small knives. 2] The brass lanyard hole seems to be held in by hope. I've had two instances of CS knives with very similar handles where that has been an issue. Needed drifting, gluing, and tapping back in. Cuts like a champion though if fixed up right.

I have several CS blades, and none have failed me yet. I trust them, although I rarely go to any of them anymore. Except the Roach Belly. Use that in the kitchen a lot..
