This one is my 5th i think. Made it as a Father's Day gift for my dad. It's going to be a tackle box knife.
Things I would do differently:
I got overzealous finishing the front of the scales and ground too much off. The pin shoudn't be that close to the edge. I solved it design-wise with the chicken bone shaped handle which is actually really comfortable in hand, but it still bugs me.
Would also be cleaner with the epoxy, thought i got it all. Otherwise, I really dig the design of this knife--
It's 1/8" O1 tool steel, chisel ground with secondary bevel with Ironwood scales. This was my first time working with Ironwood and it absolutely beat the crap out of my 60 grit ceramic belt. I ended up using a hammer and chisel to get rid of most of the excess wood before i brought it back to the 4 x 36 to do the forming. I actually did the bulk of the forming of the handle on the slack part of the belt, then just smoothed it all out with sandpaper up to 1500 grit.
Handle is a 3 finger grip.
