sweet looking knife matt. i really like the damascus pattern. sweet filework too. i wish i was good at it.

Sweeeet! The boxelder is stunning and all the colors and design just flow together.

The pics are actually pretty good (though coop would like to add you to his campaign to wipe out towels as picture backgrounds).

I really like the look of the solid black bolster against the burl, nice job.

Nice! That blade looks familiar. Is that the one you sent me?

Nice Matt! So, did you fit the handle slabs that well prior to etching or did you just dunk the whole thing since it was stabilized? ;)

I like how dark the whole knife looks. It adds an air of sophistication as if it was wearing a tuxedo.

Thanks for the compliments everyone!

Richard, I'm not particularly good at filework either, I'm just too stubborn and bullheaded to give up!:D

Dan, You made me laugh out loud with your towel comment!:D Perhaps if I make one that I feel is worthy of a Coop photo someday, then I will send it off to him. In the meantime I guess you're probably right,... if I tried real hard I could probably come up with something a little nicer!:o

Phillip, Yes this is the same one I sent you to test. Finally got around to finishing it. Glad you like!

Deker, I really wanted to try the dunk the whole knife method on this one, but to be completely honest I just don't have the cajones to try!:D I use a set of short pins so that they don't protrude through the handle material and then finish the whole knife, dissamble, etch, reassemble. Maybe on the next one....

Bruce, Thank you! That means a lot coming from someone with your ability. I am proud to have come this far in my knifemaking, but until I can make one that I wouldn't be emberassed to set on a table next to one of your "users", Im still pretty humble...

Thanks again everyone...
Matt

Matt

I'm sorry Matt, but I humbly disagree. This knife is definitely worthy! Great knife. The color contrasts just ooze class.

That is really a nice piece, looks great, bet it would be a great user. Just one of these days, all you fixed blade guys are going to turn me into a collector of them too. Gosh, I just realized I already have been bitten by the bug and have the disease, Richard_J sold me a great user. Sharp!!! The handles on this one are outstanding, the file work looks good too!

All around NICE!

I am reminded of a Cheech and Chong movie scene where the gal simply said "Ooooofffffff". That is some good stuff.

Ya done good son and I appreciate you sharing it with me and the other good folks here.

First, I agree with the others. This one is definitely worthy of a Coop photo :)

Second, at the Wulf's Hammer-In, Coop revealed his background secret (and many others) to us: .... wallpaper samples! He even brought a few old sample books and asked us to cut out pages and take them home. Seems that these books become obsolete frequently because the makers keep updating their product lines so he made friends with a salesman who gave him a stack of old books.

Here's a photo of his cheap setup (frankly, the "pro" setup he uses isn't that much more expensive):

Coop's foam core board light booth.

I'll shut up now... don't want to hijack your thread.
