New knife/first Emerson

As a sidenote:
I'm thinking about taking some comparison pictures next to a SAK, the para 2 and some esee's, in case someone is considering to buy one, but wan't to get a grip of the size of it!

Congrats on the new knife!

I think the pictures are a good idea. I always love a comparison. I've never owned either (yet) but they're being considered.

New liner lock noob-question (hopefully the last one).. this is the lockup before and after use (sliced through a branch)

As you can see it moved a bit towards the right during use. Is this something anyone else has experienced? Someone posted about the flexing lock bar when testing the lock, but I got the impression that that was under press on the spine. Thats not what I did now, it only flexes under use (cutting with the sharp end :) )

The blade still is secure and there is no play, but since this is my only linerlock except leatherman, I don't know whats "normal" or not, or if there are any signs I should be aware of..

Btw, it cut through that branch like a razor, the chiselgrind is growing on me

^^^^^^^ Especially when it's new, the liner will travel a bit under different circumstances. Part of the break-in is for the tolerances to adjust and parts to wear into synch. I don't see anything alarming. You're probably experiencing some lock stick too. Over time everything will smooth out, just don't abuse it.

Having the BK coating, keep your eye on how the wear-in goes at the stop-pin contact on the blade....the contact line should be visible from the top when the blade breaks away to close. Over time you'll see it wear the coating away and become a distinct line of steel. Once all that happens and it is set good, you'll know things should be starting to fall into place and becoming tighter.

You have the most "NORMAL" Emerson we've ever seen. You have to believe us. :)
