Recommendation? New knife for my kids daycare teacher...

Opinels are great, but they don't fit into the one hand open/close, liner or frame lock, and pocket clip criteria.
That said, I keep one in my desk at work, and it is by far the best box cutting knife i own.
Yea, I missed that part. My bad was at work. It looks like you got taken care of by @whitty good on him! As previously suggested it would be pretty cool if you offer to maintain the edge for her. You should also consider getting it engraved my local mall does it for around 12$ totally worth it IMO.

I’m going to maintain edge for her, and if she shows an interest in sharpening, a sharpmaker may be in the cards for a Christmas present.

Sharpen for a girl and she’ll have a sharp knife for a week, teach a girl to sharpen... you know.

... It was not until I got in the car and left the school that I realized how that could have never happened at a public school around here. ...

My kids went to an Episcopal school for a time, though we are not. They have a Boy Scout troop. You just reminded me that I promised to bring a dozen "Mora-Like" knives to their weekly meeting at school. I got them for nothing. I figure they can at least practice sharpening.

Ontario (RAT 2), Ruike and Tangram have some rather nice budget knives. I also like the Buck Rival 1 (#364) back-lock.
