Yep. I can. The blade is pretty well polished (so it's quite slick), but I can do it. In a way, this might be the one good thing about the relatively weak spring.

Yes, I can very easily open it as you suggest 
Might even be able to open it by pinching it with knuckle tips
Been using it over the week-end, it looks a nice knife I admit but the spring is a real drawback.
My CASE Slimline Trapper and Queen Utility do the business a lot better I'm afraid.
