• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

Decided to try another one. Steel is from a big broken double handled Dexter Russell cheese blade. Looked like someone used it as a cleaver. I carefully cut out my pattern from the flat section, trying not to ruin any heat treatment the blade already has.

I'm embarrassed to say, but I have not a clue what type of steel this is exactly, or if the spine of these particular blades have a suitable hardness. The blade said "Dexter Russell High Carbon Stainless".

I'm grinding my knives on a picnic table in the backyard with a Craftsman 2X42 grinder. I dunked this blade often because the Craftsman is a high speed nightmare.

Handle material is stabilized box elder burl. Never worked with this stuff before and boy does it stink to high heaven. Glad I have a respirator...lol.

Planning on using 4 nickel silver pins on this one, and a black spacer.

Hope you guys like it!

Strange angle, but it was the best pic of the grind I had...lol.

I think it looks fantastic! Would you consider a "how to" tutorial? I, for one, think it would be a great idea. Feel free to contact me. I would love to hear from you!

This will be my second completed knife...lol. The first was a cord wrapped disaster that i just keep around. I have other blades profiles ground out, but they are on hold for heat treatment, and the setup of my Coote grinder.

I will certainly turn this into a how-to if it would help anyone. Im very new to knifemaking, but I have studied it all my life. As I progress with this one, I will be sure to add more pics and fill you in on how I do things. I'm still learning a whole lot too so bear with me...lol.

Thank you for the compliments!

Can't wait to see this one progress!

I mean to say, that i am very new to actually putting a piece of steel to a moving belt, operating a drill press, using files....the actual process of knife making.

I have loved knives since I was a little kid, and I have knife books, magazines and videos on the subject like you wouldn't believe. I have lurked on bladeforums and other knife sites for years, paying close attention to whats happening in the knife world.

I've always been artistic and very meticulous with things. I think that my love for knives paired with that is going to help me alot.
