Just got a ZT 0452CF and I have to say after inspecting it that it is flawless. It is beautiful, perfect finish and awesome action. Detent is not too stiff, not too weak, just flip and "click!", locked it place. The CF has no imperfections. The grind, edge and tip are ground perfect I must say too.

But now....

I don't want to use it. :(

Now I need an "user" 0452 'cause I like the ergos and size. Oh well, it's only money.

Yeah I know that feeling, glad you love the new knife! I always buy 2 of the knives I really enjoy haha.

Go outside, find the nearest sidewalk, street, or parking lot. Drop the knife from pocket height onto the pavement. As you bend down to pick it up, kick it so that it skitters across the pavement for a good 10 to 20 feet.

Then pick it up, wipe it off, and start using it. That will save you a lot of money buying user knives to protect your shrine knife.

Use it! :)

I thought the same with my Spyderco Gayle Bradley 2 as it was the most expensive knife I have bought. It was so shiny even though it is M4.

A few limes for Coronas later, it looks like it was soaked in the ocean for a month. Now I have no excuse NOT to use it.

The 0452 really is about as perfect as any knife can be IMO! The 452ti really surprised me with the extra handle contouring and milled out Ti, it might be my favorite. Now I'm just waiting for a 0452BW. I think thread needs a picture...

The knife is surprisingly tougher than you think. Use it but not abuse it. This way, even after a couple of years it will still look like new.

I have 2 of the 0452ti versions and a 0452cf version. I kept one 0452ti new for when they stop selling them, I have a back up. I waved the other 0452s. Love the blade to handle ratio, I reprofiled mine on the edge pro and it's a laser.

i haven't used my extensively, but I have carried it. I had it in my back pocket all autumn long a couple of years ago while on the job site. My pockets tend to come home filled with dirt, but the knife was fine. I did scuff the clip a bit, but it still looks 90%.

Glad you like your new knife. I bought my ZT 350 as a user and it had dings and scratches so I felt much better about using it.

Just remember, tax season right around the corner. You are probably getting a refund*, so go ahead and get another knife!

* not actual tax advice.

I felt the same way at one time, but now the 0452CF is my beater and it is still in perfect shape. I guess letters and boxes aren't too tough on them.

Knives are not an investment, you get them to use, admire, collect, etc. Put it in your pocket, you only live once and a short existence it is.

That is the funnest part of knives! Using them! Enjoy it!
OR collect. Your call...

I always breathe a bit easier once I've dropped, gunked-up, scratched, modified, or otherwise knocked the perfect off a new knife. Then it's mine, and I can carry it without worrying about it.
