New knife purchase

Wow a 3v RS for 200, that's not an avg price. You got a smoking deal. Make a new handle you will never regret it, I am loving my custom canvas. A casket style would look great and be easy to do.
There is a custom knife maker near me, going to ask him about a casket style handle. Yes, that RS was one of my better knife purchases for sure. To wit: these two were exactly the same price 🤦‍♂️😆

My friend says that the tang can be drilled for a second hole if the maker wants to make it a more secure fit. He said that he does a channel in 2 halves for the tang and has done brass or SS pins as extra security. He always oversizes the new handle since the orig are a bit small for average hands. The shame of it is CS could and should do a full tang on the bigger blades especially for the retail price. Let us know if you get it done.

Not bad luck just cheap rubber. Never said they were my users although I do have a user now, I got them from a trusted friend that did some conversions and asked me to store them while he was moving. There are actually more that were less used. He did not use them all but told me they don't hold up and are easily damaged and I believe him I take his word before random internet users. I won't entertain any more exchange on this subject since I am convinced some here will just babble on with opinions on things they actually don't know. If you like them keep buying them if you want a few levels better then do new handles or look at other brands.
I don't find you very entertaining , so no loss IMO . 😁

I see some damaged rubber handles . No real explanation of how they were used/abused and no way to tell if these even came off Cold Steel knives .

Also...WTF would anyone want to keep and have you "store them " ?

Lots of guys hate LCT and will go to bizarre lengths to discredit Cold Steel . Wasted effort these days ...GSM is already fast ruining the brand reputation . 😒

You most certainly implied it by saying that you have them.
" I believe I can dig up 5 that's were worn out and not that old. I'll see if I still have them. They are just cheap rubber no reason to defend them."

In any case clearly you have no Cold Steel knife with a "worn out" handle of your own. You have no direct experience, you are simply repeating something you "heard".
You have a "friend" who re-handles knives. And he has replaced the Kraton handles on several (at least 5) Cold Steel knives and that is the source of your view that Cold Steel handles "wear out quickly". Your "friend" makes money doing handle conversions. In in his interest to denounce synthetic handles so people will convert them.

The photo you posted can not be blown up to see if they are actually excessively worn.
Truth is many people do convert their Cold Steel handles, mostly because they like the blade but want a hande with traditiional material.
That is the number one reason for CS handle conversions. And that photo of 5 removed handles is likely from such conversions.
There may be cases where the handle had a failure such as crumbling or going gooey likely due to contact with an abrasive element necessitating a re-handling.
And yes, maybe some do get worn out from severe use. But those are by far in the minority of conversions.
I will repeat that synthtic handles have been in use for over 40 years and "wearing out quickly" has never been an issue.

Finally, views on knives on BF are hardly opinions from "random internet users". Many of us have had knives from the 1980s onwards. Some even longer.
There is more collective knowledge and experience here than any "one person you know" can possibly have.
I have posted a photo of my own SRK I bought in 1989 and used heavily. The handle is not excessively worn. I have owned and used many CS knives (and Fallknivens as well) none of which displayed excessive handle wear.
You are the only one here "babbling on" with an opinion that is not even derived from actual first hand experience.
Most of us already own other knives of different brands and handle materials. No one is saying CS or their handles are "better" or "prefereable" to others.
Simply that the claim "CS handles wear out quickly" can not be substantiated. That's all.
No further exchanges necessary. I sincerely hope you learned something.
