New knife suggestions

I'm buying a new knife and need some input. The knife will be carried every day. The most common uses it will see will be field dressing game, light wod working and food prep.. However as I am a cop I want something that will do double duty as a combat weapon. I like larger knives. The knife I am replacing is a medium Cold Steel Voyager tanto w/ 50/50 edge. (Lost it hunting!)

I've narrowed it down to a Military or a Wenger. Actually I am also considering a CRKT S2, a CS Gunsight and a BM Stryker.

I'm going to stick to a plain edge as my old serrated endura is still working fine.

Wegner for the more traditional look and performance

Military for the spydie's best tool.

Both are excellent toolss, I have both.

One may want to keep an Eye out for my review of the Bob Kasper designed, Kevin Gentile modified AFCK and interview of Bob Kasper. Sorry about the wait, my review and interview should be online shortly, luckily Spark has graciously offered to do the pictures, look for it right here at BladeForums.com.

If you hunt quite a bit I would lean towards the Wegner. If you are more concerned about a tool for on duty use, the Military might be better, but I think the Wegner would also work well and be more public friendly. It would also depend on your preference between flat grind and hollow grind. Or buy a serated Endura 98 now and save a few more pennies for the plain edge Wegner for hunting use! There's always justifications for buying new knives.

Since one of your primary tasks will be
dressing game , I would avoid any knife with
a tanto blade. The shape is just not suited
for that .

Wegner.
