Ok, I am sure everyone knows the term "Buffalo Soldier". They were famous, in one of the wars, I do not remember which one. Bob Marley wrote and performed a song about them, titled "Buffalo Soldier".

Well, I started looking at how beefy my AD10 was...... like a buffalo. Wouldn't that be a much better way to describe this category than "Hard Use Folders"? "Buffalo Folders"! Ya gotta kinda say with the same tune and accent as Bob Marley does in the song then you might find it catchy :D

There's already been a CASE Buffalo.

Buffalo soldiers started as a derogatory term the Indians, I mean native Americans used to describe Black soldiers. I mean African American soldiers of color.

I don’t think I’m very good at this pc stuff. But my point is it’s potentialy a racially charged term.

 Whelp , if we can make up our knife names now ...here's my new Blue Whale accompanied by Mr. Harpoon :

I tried hard to get one of those... I was really smitten. It was only available from a German retailer at an insane price, with fiery red jigged bone scales... The fiery red killed it. Yours looks like ironwood (?). I may have caved in, perhaps.

I find it quite strange that you'd suggest the use of "Buffalo Soldier" and even claim they were famous "in one of the wars" without even bothering to do a google search to learn who they were.

I knew a little more than what I included in the original post. Like others said, I knew it the details could possibly be viewed as offensive by some folks so I just left it at - 'ya know, the famous soldiers' figured that was sufficient. I knew the word was what Ndn's called black soldiers, that narrows down which wars it could be. I didn't see how a detailed history or the "Buffalo Soldiers" pertained to renaming a category of knife after a Bob Marley song.

Btw - I am "indigenous" to this continent and really don't have any sensitivities as far as which terms folks use (whoever it was that corrected themself). I do find the word "Indian" humorous tho. Europeans figured out Columbus landed on the WRONG continent a couple hundred years ago and still never bothered to change what they called the locals. Really?

Oh! while we are renaming stuff, look at Spyderco's offering, in that category- the Shamoo! Look at it long enough and you will see it :)

That's a photo that I found online. I had a Case blue scroll with stag handles. I wish I still had that set. That's what got into collecting around 1980.

You, sir, have a great attitude. Please never lose it.

Just use the term overbuilt for a beefy knife. Although I did like “tatanka”.

Then there’s “Buffalo girls”, Buffalo wings, Buffalo Bill.

I remember when I finally heard why they were called "Buffalo Wings" (originated in Buffalo, NY supposedly). I was like "ahhh, that makes sense, how'd I not put that together". Still ain't figured out "Baby Back Ribs" :D
