This is my newest creation. I put a lot into this one, both in the planning and building. I call it the Kodiak. It’s one of the bigger knives that I make, but it handles like a sports car. The balance is right at the first finger so it feels lighter than it is. Very fast and easy in the hand. I started with 3/16” O1 tool steel. I gave it a clipped point with an unsharpened swedge on a 6” blade. Then to even it out I went with a full flat grind down to .0020” behind the cutting edge and a 25deg micro-bevel and a sharp 90deg spine. The flats are all hand sanded to a brushed finish. The handle is skeletonized to improve bonding and increase balance. This a case of the whole being more than the sum of its parts. What it all boils down to is excellent cutting geometry and a sturdy working edge on a large blade that is easy to control.

The handle is a rounded and fills the hand. This makes a huge difference when you are working cold, wet, or with gloves on. There is a swell at the butt of the handle to extend the grip when necessary. The materials on the handle are chosen to give it a western style look while maintaining the mechanical balance. The bolster is black paper micarta and the wood is Bocote. There is a white G10 liner and spacer. The pins are 1/8” nickel silver. It is all boned together with Acraglas. Then it is hand sanded and shaped for comfort. I buffed the handle slightly and sealed it with Danish oil. This makes a great looking finish that is not slippery.

The sheath is made from 8-9oz veg tanned leather. I dyed it a Java brown to accent the knife. All the tooling and sewing was done by hand. It was sealed with atom wax and a healthy coat of Obanauf’s leather oil. This is my preferred method as it seals and leaves some flexibility to the leather. The sheath also bears my makers mark.

The price is $350 shipped in the USA. Paypal preferred. First "I'll take it" followed by a pm gets it.

Looks awesome. The knife I just got from you handles beautifully, and I imagine this one does as well.
