Benchmade 940-1 (S90V, carbon fiber)
CRK Sebenza 25 left hand carbon fiber

Me-
left handed
had S30V Sebenza and gave it up for Spyderco Gayle Bradley because of better edge holding

I will use it for yard work, occasional commercial construction work and everyday carry.

Thoughts/pros/cons...

I have not handled a 940-1, but I have handled the 940. Have not handled the CF sebenza 25, but I own a 25.

For utility and yard work, I would pick a Sebenza 25. One of my favorite aspects of Chris Reeve knives is the ability to break them completely down for cleaning and maintenance. I use my 25 for gardening, pruning and trimming, and planting in the yard without hesitation. It works great and the CF scale (at least on other CRK models) makes the lock-up sound really good.

I would only have three concerns with the 940-1 if I was to use it in the same scenarios you mentioned:

1. I would be scared to use S90V for tough jobs where the blade could hit stone and gravel

2. I have not had great luck in reassembling Benchmades (took a long time and multiple lock-tite applications to restore the same smoothness/secure blade lock-up that it came with - not necessarily a prevalent issue)

3. The 940-1 might feel too light for me to use it in very dirty jobs

Other than that, the 940-1 looks like a great knife, and I hope (if you choose to go with it) that you can prove me wrong about all of my concerns!

Id go Seb 25. Easier to maintain, both sharpening and disassembly. No it wont hold an edge as long but being able to sharpen it quickly goes a long way for me. Plus, its a CRK!
You obviously like/want CF, so if it were me, Id opt for the 25 w/CF inlay over full CF scale.

For those purposes I would go with the seb25

I gave away a 940-1 a few weeks ago and it was a wonderful knife. Very light, beautiful, and great for EDC but for the purposes you describe I would get something with more heft to it.

If you care for any other opinions I just saw and fell in love with the ZT0804cf lol

But again, between the two I'd go for the Sebenza hands down.
