Hey guys, so I usually spend about 6 months researching a knife before I buy it, and since I'm getting close to fully paying off the last knife I got, I was wondering what I should maybe be looking at. My collection is:

Spyderco Paramilitary 2
Gerber Strongarm
Swiss Army Knife Fisherman
Outdoor Edge Grip
Kershaw Shuffle 2
a Case style folder I think its Camillus or something like that
Rapala Fillet knife
Kershaw Lifter
Tramotina Bolo Machete
Tramotina 18" Machete

and maybe a few others.

So what am I missing? I'd like the next purchase to be a fixed blade as I have a folder that should last outlive me. I don't really care about length, and I like carbon steel because I hate trying to sharpen stainless with my whetstone.

I've thought about maybe a Mora knife or Cold Steel Finn Hawk or something bushcraft related but I'm very open to any suggestions. I do like the look of the Condor Swamp Romper
I'd like to keep it under $125 dollars as that's what I'll reasonably have at the end of the summer for knives. The only other thing I've looked at is maybe and Esee 6 cause all mighty guarantee right?

So whats missing from my collection? And what kind of bushcraft knife should I maybe consider and finally is it worth springing for an Esee 6?

Thanks

Tramotinas aren't to expensive so if you're interested and can sharpen a blade they're great value.

At that price range go with ESEE. I have several -- Izula,3,4,5,6. They're great knives, worth the price, and a great value IMO. You can't go wrong with the 6 but check out the 5. To me 5.5" is the perfect length (vs 6.5") and I am a huge fan of scandi grinds. It's much thicker than the 6 though so it's heavy. I think that's why it doesn't get as much attention as the 6.

ESEE, Tops BOB Knife or check out LT Wright Knives.

Look at Imacasa machetes, there is a too good to be true deal on them now, if you want details PM me. How does two 18" Imacasa's for $9.99 sound? No sheath, choice of wood or poly handles. I paid $30.98 for two 14", two 18" and two 22" shipped to my door.

Cold Steel . Maybe a nice Trailmaster or Kukri . SRK or Recon Scout . Or a huge folding kukri = Rajah . The older models like in AUS8 or any at closeout prices are a great value .

For a fixed blade, look at the Lionsteel M4. Close to your price range. M390 steel. There's a thread about it on the REVIEWS forum and a few elsewhere.

Looking at your collection, I don't see a good non-asaisted flipper. Save a bit longer and grab a ZT 0450. Kizer flippers are supposed to be good for the price, but I've yet to get one myself.

Becker is one to look at. I'm partial to the BK5.

I think part of the unpopularity of the ESEE 5 is the obtuse blade geometry along with the weight. The general population here seems to prefer slicier knives, in both fixed and folders.

An Esee 6 is nice, I like mine. It is one of my knives I keep in my survival pack. I have used it for camping purposes as well as well as light chopping. For around the same price I am considering a Bradford Guardian 3. This one in particular.

I concur... I'm daily carying an E4 at the moment while waiting on a custom I have ordered from Gollik but after that the Bradford guardian 3 will be my next FB purchase (and my first non-work specific EDC FB)

You may like the cold steel Finn wolf. It's a folding scandi grind for about $45. It is light and strong. Uses Aus8 steel. Sharpest knife out of the box I have ever seen.

OK, so I see a few suggestions I've liked. I'll look at a some Beckers for a bit. I personally don't like ZT knives. The knives just don't appeal to me. In the realm of non assisted flippers I do like the Kershaw Skyline. I have been looking at the SRK but the more I think about it my Strongarm can do everything that the SRK can. I don't want the CS Finn wolf because I could get the Finn Hawk for less and it'd be a fixed blade. I've looked at this Arthos https://arthosknives.com/product/black-orange-black-g10/ and I like the looks of it.

Can anyone tell me why TOPS knives are so expensive? I've looked at their Tactical Steak Knife and was seriously considering it until I saw the steel was 440C which I'm not willing to pay $100 for

I'd also like to get a Mora knife, and I was looking at the Robust or the Pro C. I'm leaning towards the Robust because It can take a beating (DBK batoned through a brick with it) and come out on top

If by " case style folder " you mean a traditional slipjoint, then I'd recommend a case sodbuster Jr in cv or a case peanut in cv.
For machetes I'd get an Imicasa made marbles as they come sharp, with a sheath / stone ( not a necessity, but why not ) and a nice orange blade so you don't loose it.
Do you own a buck 110, if not you need to.
You should also own a Victorinox classic, recruit , and tinker. These are the 3 classic vic models and for 10$, 15$, and 20$ in that order you can't beat them.

Buck 102 in 5160 carbon steel or any of the buck 100 series really. Can be had for about $45 and is backed up with a lifetime warranty.
